Why is the netcode complete trash?? I dont understand how I can ping 90 + to every east coast server living in ohio. I played 3 games last night with 145 ping to the only east coast server populated. I have no averaged over a 60 ping on the east coast since I first started gaming in RTCW back in 2000..... How can you not get something so simple right?
Can even get a true feel for the game, since there is latency issues

Re: netcode
Server issue, not a netcode one.
I have 20ms on EU-W.
I believe dedicated servers in US are "shit" for the moment, since the beta is "MAINLY" targeting EU/EUW (because Nadeo is from France, same problems occur with US games).

Re: netcode
Maybe that is true. All I know is its pretty pathetic trying to test or get a feel for a game when you cant even have a sturdy latency. Whats the point? Even thought I dominated the scoreboard, thats besides the point. I want to see how the game truly feels, instead of having a "restraint" feeling. There were several times where I couldn't even move. My guy was stuck sitting still like he lagged out. How fun... I heard that West Coast servers worked good, so I find it hard to believe its that though.
Re: netcode
It's the dedicated server, if there are on my SM Melee 50 people it lags because of the dedicated of nadeo. It's a bit buggy with this... (My server has enough ressources so it's not possible that the lags occur because of a bad root server)
Re: netcode
1) 50 people on Melee is just insane, laggy or not.killer606 wrote:It's the dedicated server, if there are on my SM Melee 50 people it lags because of the dedicated of nadeo. 2) I doubt that you have any opportunity to test with 50 people with none having a bad connection, and i'm pretty sure that having 3 or 4 very laggy people connected can make the whole thing lag.
3) Utopia is to hope that all people who successfully play tm with bad connection and/or wifi understand that it can't work correctly on any fps without a really correct connection.

With the above responses I will also add that from my understand all servers are dedicated therefore, if a server is dedicated in the east, then it should be fine with low pings for east coast players. sounds like they just have shit netcoders who dont know what they are doing and half assed it. I could not find ( nor could several friends ) see a east coast server with good latency. Unless all these servers are liars and they arent located on the east coast anywhere or central.Slig wrote:1) 50 people on Melee is just insane, laggy or not.killer606 wrote:It's the dedicated server, if there are on my SM Melee 50 people it lags because of the dedicated of nadeo. Ive played tribes, cod, rtcw pub games with way better graphics over 50 people and higher resolution with ZERO lag before. It has nothing to do with the amount of people. This game requires zero graphical resources

This is true to an extent. However, if 3 or 4 people have bad connections it should not affect the server at all. Their connection does not concern mine to a server or the host it self. Only their connection to the server. This is true for any game well coded and has been for decades, so you're wrong.

I dont know if you're new to gaming on a computer or just delusional? but the fact remains people with poor connections will always play video games. Ive been playing competitive for almost 15 years on a computer and this has always been the case, however like my previous statement. A poor connection DOES NOT AFFECT other players connections or the server. Quakelive you can have someone join a server with a poor 400 ping. That has nothing to do with my 30 ping. Same with RTCW, COD, WOW, Dota 2, LoL, TF2 or any other game I have played. This only affects their connection and their issues to the server. It's their problem and not mine or others. Just like how it should be. Since Im new to this game, Ive put no research into figuring out their server system or how servers are created or where, however someones BAD connection should NEVER AFFECT a server for everyone. Regardless if there is 50 people. If the server has the RESOURCES to handle them.

There is no automatic link between the dedicated login location and the real network/geographic location : each host choose the location he want for each dedicated login that he creates (well most times the real one is used anyway). Check the server ip (netstat, tcpview, etc.) and do a geoloc or tracert to be sureaimology wrote:With the above responses I will also add that from my understand all servers are dedicated therefore, if a server is dedicated in the east, then it should be fine with low pings for east coast players. Also, i guess that too many are hosting Storm servers at home, like they did for their TM servers, forgetting that the connection quality of the server is much more necessary for a fps server than a tm server (or at least really check what should be the max players to allow, to not use the connection for other things, etc.). It's possible that actually there is no storm server on a real rent dedicated on east coast, it's difficult to know...

Now that I could see, if thats the case then it would explain it. I find that hard to believe however.Slig wrote:There is no automatic link between the dedicated login location and the real network/geographic location : each host choose the location he want for each dedicated login that he creates (well most times the real one is used anyway). Actually, "Ubisoft East Coast" servers are located in Montreal, Quebec but as the machine is part of the OVH alpha, maybe everything is not at its best (and unfortunately it's a bit hard to check the ping in the US as we're in France
). Hopefully there will be soon other servers which may work better for you.

Re: netcode
But if thats not true what I've said. Why do I have not a single lag? I have DSL2000 and playing on TOP settings, everything is switched to "high". I dont have lags on servers with 12 people or with 60, there is absolute not one single lag.
And I can't imagine that a player with a bad connection can affect the server in that way, that they have these massive lags. Because on every SM server here there are lags for players, the only reason for me is that the dedicated has some bugs.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
