good it was working at least
not good it is not completely again, for apparently no reason
This is strange.
You have tried on exactly the same server?
I don't know if avatar animations can be disabled in scorecharts, perhaps someone has modified it (unless its your server and you know that you did nothing).
One more realistic idea: perhaps the cache item for the scorechart avatar is buggy.
Please clean the cache and try again.

Re: Setting a GIF as avatar?
Tried it out some more: i've joined servers of all kinds, but i failed to individuate a repetitive behavior.
The only thing i can confirm is: clean the cache -> avatar is animated in scoreboard but it isn't in all the other places where it appears -> after some time / joining some servers, it stops from being animated in scoreboard AND start to be animated everywhere else!
I've yet to confirm just one thing: i think the image is always animated when you look at the player's profile while in-game... must try it out to confirm this.

This is very strange.
Thank you very much for your investigations and for somehow discovering this bug!
If you like you can create a new report, or I split this thread and move the animation shown / not shown issue to the reports.

Re: Setting a GIF as avatar?
Yeah, that would do, thanks!
BTW, this time i cleared the cache but the avatar wasn't animated already from the first time i joined a server, so clearing the cache doesn't solve the problem.
Avatar is always animated when i look at my player profile (for me, ofc).
Also, tonight i played for about 1.5/2 hours with a friend through 3 different servers and many maps before we could see each others avatars, right before he went to sleep. That's odd...

Re: Setting a GIF as avatar?
it is indeed.
This looks like a network issue.
How many ports did you open in your firewalls (router and PC) for ManiaPlanet?
Only the two recommended (2350 and 3450)? Or a port range (2350-2359, 3450-3459)?
Now this is a bit tricky.
It could be that the system does not find enough open ports, so it tries port after port, until it finds a working pair with your friends.
There are 65535 ports, and because of standard delays and timeouts, it can take a while to try them (if the default ports are already busy).
This would also explain some lag issues.

For now i have only an exception on windows' firewall for the ManiaPlanet program, tonight i'll open those IP ranges and see what happens.TMarc wrote:Or a port range (2350-2359, 3450-3459)?

Re: Setting a GIF as avatar?
I tried this tutorial :
http://tmuf.gamebanana.com/tuts/11240
I tried lowering it under 15kB and in 64x64
I tried the .bik given in this thread, and none of them worked in my profile or in game, I just get a black square.
all of these bik videos worked using the bik player.
anyone knows what could be the problem ?
