[OpenBeta] ManiaPlanet 2 Beta Server 2013-02-12

Good evening!

So yet an other version for the open beta release!

Or if you have already installed 2013-02-09 or 2013-02-09b or 2013-02-11, here is the difference to apply on top of the previous install:

This version is compatible with the Beta3 Rcs.

The last few important fixes are:
- a bug where players were considered AFK and sent to spectators while they were actually playing.
- this version adds back support for LAN/offline mode: You can start a server with /lan option, without any internet connection.

can you run Elite-beta2 on it?

nvm. Just tested it and it doesn't work.
Please fix or state what u have actually changed in how to set it up. Using same cfg files from rc1 which work for that version. Also changing ingame does nothing. Defenders can still choose weapon.

Seems like it should be possible. Took me a while but I found an server with build ...-11-22-00 that seemed to run beta2.
Some info on what has changed would be great.

Ok so what has changes is this....
S_ForceWeaponSelection = true <-- default is false
Not really a logical name. Also changing to beta2 should logically ignore all that weaponchoosing stuff that never was a part of beta2.

Adding this section directly after </gameinfos> in your matchsettings works just fine.

Why? I think its usefull, I had several beginners who didnt know how they come back to game.

I have a suggestion for the server, maybe add a message for new joined players, that they have to wait for the next round? Many players are asking how they could play when they joined and don't know that they have to wait.

It seems that the bug of the disappearing servers is unfortunately still going on, even after the opening of the open beta. Its mostly happening on empty servers, some disappear completely and occasionally come back, and some are only visible with their loginname instead of their normal servername. When you open the list of available servers in Shootmania you will see a lot of servers with their names in normal black letters instead of the colored usual ones because you only see their loginnames.

Does the optimization has anything to do with the huge amount of Ubisoft Shootmania servers that has been set up since the open beta has started, to welcome hopefully the same amount of new players ?
I hope you have the time to still look at this bug because its indeed inconvient to hear from many players the question why your servers are offline.

I really hope it is not XBX that has to fix this bug, if I look at the times he posted new dedicateds :D

Please XBX get some sleep: you really deserve it, because these are not normal working hours. I did spoke about it with several players and forumposters and we really admire what you guys are doing right now, considering the huge amount of effort and time you are putting into all of this :clap:

Yes, (mostly empty) servers still dissappear. One of my 3 Royal's wasn't visible in the morning today, but it came back about 30mins later.
