New Nvidia-driver with updated SLI-profile for TM2 released

Post by Pedal »

Nvidia has today released a new GPU-driver, Version 320.00, with an updated SLI-Profile for Trackmania 2.

It is a beta-driver, but i can already say that it is an improvement over the previous drivers, including changing data through nvidia inspector.

It took a while, but finally a driver with good, working sli-support for maniaplanet

Hello,
We've worked with NVidia to find out and correct some AFR (alternate frame rendering) issues we had in previous version of our renderer.
Latest ManiaPlanet version is already compatible with AFR2 profile: you should not experience visual or performance glitchs when using this profile (you can force your driver to use this profile instead the NVidia one).

Please note that the current NVidia's official profile do reduce peformance in SLI (compared to single GPU).
This is an issue NVidia is solving now (according to my concat this profile fix won't be in the next driver update, but should be in the following one).

Like you said it looks like their new profile driver is already available, at least on this beta driver, thanks for the information/link.

Thanks

With this you mean that we should use "Force alternate frame rendering 2" under "SLI rendering mode" in Nvidia CP?

I may give that a try, however, the performance in SLI is very much improved in this new beta-river using the "std" nvidia-recommended profile.

It does though, make it very apparent that AA is poor or not working at all in ManiaPlanet, and i hope the overall Graphics quality will be improved over time.

Also, i would suggest nvidia also replaces the name of the profile from "Trackmania 2: Canyon" to simply "ManiaPlanet" as this will cover all coming titles.

No, I was talking to players who do not want to install a beta driver.
This is a way to make SLI work with current non-beta drivers.

Nice/VeryNice shading qualities use a deferred render which is (through D3D9) incompatible with hardware MSAA.
This is why only FXAA is provided, and yes FXAA suffers from sub-pixel aliasing (unlike MSAA).

Indeed.

Tried these yesterday. They pretty much double my single-GPU performance. On the most demanding spot in one of the most graphics demanding Canyon tracks in singleplayer I get well above 140 fps.

Very nice! Thank you.

Nvidia has today released new, WHQL-certified drivers, V320.18, with the included, updated SLI-profile for maniPlanet.

So for those not wanting to use the beta-driver, a final one is now released.

SLI-is fully functional with the updated profile and can be downloaded from the link below:

Goodbye.

Hi Pedal,
To your knowledge, do these WHQL drivers add anything compared to the beta drivers? The beta drivers work like a charm for me, so if there are no significant changes then I'm just keeping those.

Hi,

AFAIK, these new drivers brings nothing more than the WHQL-stamp from Microsoft.

They updated the SLI-profile for MP in the 320.00 beta-driver and shortly after released Another beta, 320.14 which added support for Metro: Last night. The "only" thing i can Think of they added, apart from WHQL, in this new 320.18 driver, is support for the new 700-series GPU's.

Beta-drivers from Nvidia are normally completely safe to use and they are released with hotfixes and support for new games while it is sent to MS for WHQL-approval.

So if you don't play Metro: Last night or have received a spanking brand new 700-series GPU, there should be no need in update for ManiaPlanet only.
