[TM2] Connection - internal error, not connected to internet

Post by TotallySucks »

When I start up ManiaPlanet I see the "Checking connection with master server..." dialog box, then the "Choose your Profile" dialog shows up. After selecting my profile I see:
"Connecting to mp01.maniaplanet.com..."
and then I get:
"Could not connect:
Internal error"
or sometimes:
"Could not connect:
Please try again later"
then, if I click OK I see this:
"You are not connected to the internet - retry, stay offline"
Clicking retry takes me to the Account Connection screen, if I click Connect on this screen the same thing I just described happens.

This is really annoying since I haven't been able to activate the game online yet, so I can't even play offline!

Windows XP Pro SP3 as an administrator.
Windows Security Essentials and Windows firewall.
Broadband internet via a combined modem/router.
I've tried forwarding ports 80 and 443 and also turned off the Windows firewall. I updated my network card drivers as mentioned here, my modem/router has the latest firmware, I tried to turn off Checksum Offloading and force full duplex in my network card (don't have those options), I disabled power management, and now I'm out of ideas. Help?

Could you try this solution please :
Check your host file in windows (You can find his location here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file)

Then put this file in editable mode (right click on this file => uncheck the hut read-only).
You need to remove these ligns (if it appears)

Code: Select all

127.0.0.1 mp02.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 mp01.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 mp03.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 game.maniaplanet.com
You save your new files and recheck the hut read-only.

Now try to connect to ManiaPlanet.

those lines arent in the host file
just:

Code: Select all

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
#	127.0.0.1 localhost
#	::1             localhost

it connects to the master server fine but as soon as it connects to mp04 or mp01 just says internal error.. tried creating a new account but it says my key has been used (obsviously on my normal account) was playing perfectly fine in beta and the day before the master server went down

Also checked my hosts file, there's nothing in there. This is very frustrating. When I saw that the game wasn't released on Steam I was hesitant to purchase it, but went ahead anyway. Now I wish I hadn't.

How should I go about seeking a refund if this problem cannot be resolved? My CD key hasn't even been activated.

I still have no resolution for this error. I can't activate the game. Is there any information on a workaround or fix?
