Thanks for the idea, gouxim.

I thought about the flooding a little bit, and I came up with the following ideas, which both requires the MPWS to support it:
  • If the MPWS supports adding comments to existing Notifications, new TopScores may simply be added as a comment to the existing Notification. So let's say epi reaches rank 2 in a mode, then this would be announced as known. If he now manage to reach place one within e.g. 24 hours, this new TopScore is added as comment, and no new notification is added. (If he would reach rank 1 after 24 hours, a new notification would be created.)
  • If the MPWS supports editing or deleting of existing Notifications, the new TopScore may simply replace the existing one.
Both ways would limit Notifications to 1 per player and day. Additionaly, getting a better Highscore without getting a better rank should not be announced at all (so as epi already has rank 1 everywhere, he would not produce any Notifications as long as he does not get beaten by another player ^^)

So in other words: I will wait what you have planned with the Notification IDs :D

Hi guys,

all the thinking for me getting less in notifications and top lists... what are you waiting for to break my scores? I'm able to improve them, so why not someone else? :D

ps: when does the maximum of 1 highscore per player gets introduced? I'm getting close to my goal of top 20 each mode, about 1 hour of playing I assume, I saved the easiest for the last :twisted:

I will not find the time over easter to finish the new Highs core system, so I think you will have to wait at least until next week for it. Basically the new system is already working, but I need more time to make it stable and to test it... So be patient ;)

no problem Marcel, I reached my first goal (top 20 every mode :twisted: ), now I want to score over 20000 in 5 minutes, after that I will try to play over 100000 in classic mode, must be possible :D

Marcel,

found a bug... in classic mode I played a new high score, 78min, score of 272350, but in the high score sheet you only see 18min mentioned and not 1h18min or 78min... so indirectly I help you to improve the format again :twisted:

other question: Is there a limit in the game or is it really endless. when I was young we had a tetris game that went negative when I scored over a certain number of points, because the bits couldn't count further... :D

Thank you for the bug report, indeed I never expected that a game would last longer than 60 minutes, so I cropped away the hours in the highscore tables ;)

To your other problem reported via ManiaHome: I already encountered this problem, too, and I think I fixed it in the dev version. So this fix will come with the next update ;)

There should be no real limit in the game, so you should be able to play infinitely. "No real limit" means, that you may have a problem when numbers get bigger than ca. 2 billions (exactly (2^31)-1), as of course the 32bit integers will overflow at this point. But I think this should be great enough to be not a real problem, though ^^

My pleasure for the bug report, together we know and find more than alone ;) and always nicer to create and play a perfect game, we all gain profit with it :D

About the "game limit", normally 2.147.483.647 points shouldn't cause a actual problem, but you never know with me ofcourse :twisted:

are you updating the tetris game, or have you erased it? I can't see it any more, and you are no longer in my friends list all in a sudden??? Is there something wrong maybe?

Don't worry, he "only" has a server problem and is working on it, it should be fixed in a few days :)
As far as I know, he is forced to move onto another server, so he could not plan the downtime.
