hi,
is there any effort or incentive to integrate opencl?
thx

Re: OpenCL (Open Computing Language)
I don't think so.
There is no element in the game that could benefit from it, except adding on purpose some purely aesthetic special effect that requires massive simulation (volumetric smoke effects or dynamic simulation of waves).
Even if such effects were implemented in the game, I believe a fixed pre-recorded animation would suit the Trackmania gameplay well enough. The Nadeo team is small and they are already overloaded at the moment with fixing bugs and developing shootmania and questmania.

Actually, the only thing which could benefit from OpenCL would be track shadow shadow computing. The reason why is it's already being done on the GPU. I say this because I've double-checked this by referencing my CPU usage and my GPU usage when computing shadows for a track, and the CPU usage hardly increases, while GPU usage jumps to 99-100% - and I'm using a GeForce GTX 460SE!BlackShark wrote:I don't think so.

By using OpenCL for shadow computations, compatible GPUs could, in theory, dramatically speed up the process. However, if Nadeo is, somehow, already doing this without using OpenCL, then this would be useless.
