my ping is not high at all (45-50 on fr servers, 60 on de , like any other game) .
by specting my mates sometimes i see they have shot very far from the enemy model but still they hit him, but i can't see their ping so i can't tell what really is happening.
when i play, i can see sometimes when running fast or when strafing (me and my enemy) even if the crosshair is on the enemy model, i don't hit it. it especially happens when playing vs french players (maybe because of their lower ping) or swedish players (maybe because of their higher ping) . vs players of other countries (which may have a ping similar to mine) i don't notice very bad no reg.

It happens more often when both (enemy and me) are moving/jumping quite fast but it has happened to me in all kind of situations. My ping is never higher than 50.Hylis wrote:Longas, no, the function is more sophisticated
We are pretty close of alpha 2 code now (alpha 3 was different) But there may be a difference based on who are the players, where they are coming from, who is running the server, where etc.
Can you tell me more the situations that generates this issue according to you?
I mean: are player doing spam strafe a the moment, are they running fast, are they falling?
is there some moments when you think it happens more than others?

xhine, when you specatate, you have double ping and you don't see exactly what the guy you follow is seeing
longas, as I said, it depends on server configuration as well, not only your ping. I had report of people playing on servers that have a lot of people by average ping and it makes this depending of the way it is configured. play with three people from spain on a server from spain will likely have less issues I would say. we more people coming, more servers with good ping and players with good ping since closer to the servers.

I seem to be the only person here who thinks the netcode is working pretty great. I play on a ping of 170, and never have had any issues with hitting players, I've never felt that a rail shot should have hit someone but didn't. Though today, the larger "royal" type servers did give me some movement issues. I assume it has something to do with a lot more players being added in the past few days.

Shameless bump! This really needs to get fixed. Happens all the time, no matter what server (60 delta, still happens). I have tons of replays of very obvious hits or rockets that just disappear in the air if needed. The fact that the rail/rocket just disappears in the player makes it even more infuriating, as it's obvious there's something wrong with the net code.
This really, really, really needs to get fixed. If the game gets released with this net code the competitive gameplay will die before it even started. Would be very nice if someone would explain why the net code is so much worse than in say Quake, and why it has been made like this.

Make the Recv and Sendrate on the same tick value like it was in alpha 2 so it wont happen that you send way more packets than you actully can recive so these kind things wont happen.. also wonder why some rockets dissapear sometimes? its because the server failed a prediction movement its shows you one thing but rather he did another.. these kind of things will always happen online always a chance for it. it will happen less with a more stable send/recv rate
which it isnt right now 20/50 tick?? like really? waaaaay to big of a difference in between them.. Your sending more packets than you actully can recvive which can also make the server confused as it cant show you all of the packets it wanted to. i have probaly forgot something

Tviq, it is part of improving the settings somehow. We are currently looking at upload rate to see how to improve the use of it.

We will work on it, with time. Even if there is a lag before everything is done as good as your favorite fps, we are around two weeks of the beta start. Two weeks is a big ping ^^, I know, but keep in mind that many situations are still because of servers, players locations etc. It will improve a little by itself, with some tweak and later big improvements from us.
