Motorcycle TrackMania Environment Suggestion

Post by fng_thatoneguy »

I need to preface this with a little of my gaming history.

Before I was introduced to TrackMania, my favorite game franchise of 8 years was the Motocross Madness (MCM) series by Rainbow Studios; published by Microsoft. My Friday Night Gamers played it religiously from the release of the first Motocross Madness, until we could no longer play Motocross Madness 2 after computers started coming with more than 3GB Ram, making the old DirectX go wonky.

Needless to say, come 2006 and I finally found out about TrackMania Nations, I finally had another racing game fix to overcome my inability to play MCM anymore. I have passionately loved TrackMania ever since and own all of the titles. And though I have an incredible amount of fun with the game... all of the cars/environments, I find myself longing for some motorcycle action again.

This makes me think how cool it would be for Nadeo to create a motorcycle environment for TrackMania. Think about it... Motocross Madness has a baby with TrackMania, and it's the most beautiful video game baby ever born.
MotoMania

Seriously though, how cool would a motorcycle environment be for TrackMania?!
Imagine doing this in TrackMania...
(My apologies for the crappy quality... it was one of my first YouTube videos 8 years ago and I didn't know how to force a better quality.)

I realize I wouldn't get to have all of the awesomeness from the old game (Tag, Stunts, etc.) -- though I would imagine it wouldn't be hard for the community to script some title packs off it to add those modes as well! Also, having the awesome track building tools that TrackMania provides could have us seeing some epic tracks to run with the motorcycle.

I would love to know your thoughts on this and see if there is even any interest in it. I would really love to see a Motorcycle environment for TrackMania from Nadeo. :1010

I loved MM2 too, and they have already made ShootMania and are developing QuestMania, so why not. :)

Right now you can play with a motorbike : http://www.maniapark.com/ressource.php?id=1849

And with mods, items, many things are possible : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO0Ypvf7 ... re&index=1

Also some gameplay features are coming in script. Don't know if it is enough right now to make a motorbike gameplay or if we need more parameters.

The main problem is the "collision box". But if one day we can modify it in a title, Motomania Title will be possible  . It could be based on a TM environnement.

Maybe you should add this (possibility to modify the "collision box" in a title an gampelay features) in the wish list : http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27872

MCM looks like alot of people played this years ago..loved it when you went out of bounds !

YES nadeo this would be a cool idea, problem is getting the bike to handel right, and there been alot who have tried
and failed over many years lol...

MMMMmmmm new world be cool..
Valley as the stadium blocks !
nice blocks in the Stadium world for motocross events.

To be honest if you look around the blocks for most of the worlds, there is a few what can be used
with the artist tweek to fit into a brand new world "MOTOMANIA"

and we have a motobike in ManiaPark already !

Well Nadeo what do you think ?
can it done sometime in the future ?

i could see alot of people buying this. if it was to turn out as good as valley, i would give FULL PRICE for it,
infact i want to be on the beta and give you the money now...

very good idea MOTOMANIA +1

I love all these ideas!!! Thanks all. :3

The biggest thing for me, as mentioned by others, which would merit its own environment, is the physics of the driving itself. I want it to feel like a motorcycle like MCM did. Realistic? Maybe not as much, but the mixture between real and fun was a perfect blend for me in both MCM and MCM2.

This is exactly why I'm asking Nadeo to make one. I have contacted Robb Rinard, the project lead over MCM and MCM2 (now working for 2XL games) to bring us another PC motocross game, but their company is still stuck in console and iOS land.

Nadeo is great at making really fun environments with great physics and I hope they welcome the challenge to make a motocross environment. I think they could be the next ones to nail it... since, in my humble opinion, Rainbow was the only one in the past that pulled it off.

Keep the upvotes coming everyone! Hopefully Nadeo will accept the challenge!

Have any of you seen the editor in Trials Evolution Gold? The game is meant to be kind of linear but an editor like that one is really cool. You can really do a lot with it.

I certainly wouldn't want TM to do an environment that was meant to be played on a fixed line like that either. My reference was more toward the way the editor works by being able to glue objects together, give them physical joints, even motorized joints for rotating or spring loaded objects. In TE-Gold you can build anywhere it's just meant to be driven in a straight line. An editor that could let you build in a similar fashion but still use blocks that snap to a grid (Like TM) and the freedom to drive anywhere (Like TM) would be cool. I look mostly at the ability to glue mutiple objects together to create larger ones like using rocks to build cliffs etc... and to create physical movement and interactions with objects. Problem is, with multiple players on a TM track at once the tracks must remain static.
