Ohhh it took me a sec to see you meant halo 1. he he Well Halo 1 was never designed for bots to be in multiplayer so they are very buggy when added. I have done this and they seem to be dumber and they are not in sync with all the players connected. (Why is Halo relating to this? I don’t know.)

And Aimbots? Really? If we are going to do this we need to get on the same page of this book.

You seem to be acting on the idea that if 1 thing is out of place or the AI doesn’t know what to do, the server/game will cash. Please give me more information on how you think the map would break from downloading a new SP map.

Most of the time, if one thing is out of place in the game because of a flaw in the code, the game WILL crash.
And Halo relates to this because it is an FPS. Which isn't actually that old, just FYI.
And go back and read my post again and see just where I said DLing a map could break the game...I never said that. If you'll read, I said that if you DLed a map with broken code, you could get a CTD. I'm just sayin. It's not as simple as coding pathways and hoping stuff lines up. BTW, why is anyone on this bandwagon anyway...TM's -never- had bots. Or AI. Or any sort of 'real' singleplayer at all.

Finally someone who prefers RI over AI!
I totally agree with that one.
There are hundreds of games with stupid bots in it, real people are so much more interesting.
Let Nadeo plz make a game that is not like those other games, and where the human interaction is in the center.

Maybe at least they can add an AI shell that can be coded by the players of the community with that Maniascript thing.

@Knutselmaaster
TM games never needed AI, the ingame recording and saving led to 15 cars racing on 1 track with only 1 player.
Now they are making a FPS with a full editor. So are they going to be like most map editors, or will they take the next step.

Because a shooter implies that there's something to shoot at. TM isn't even a valid comparison at all. the players can't even interact with each other outside of chat.

Once again, everyone needs to understand that there is a difference between bots made to emulate players and AI made to simulate monsters and NPCs.

The main focus of the game is going to be multiplayer. There is no changing that, but that doesn't mean that has to be only that one type of multiplayer shooter. Making mazes and base wars is going to be extremely old, especially considering that every FPS before it has already done this before. It's a novel idea to condense the map making down to where the map quantity explodes, but we need more features included in to keep it from being a type of game that we play once and then never touch again.

Maybe allow users to script how hitboxes work for what map?
Maybe allow spawnable monsters? (I keep pushing this because the idea of player-made co-op and onslaught maps appeal to me greatly, and if you like shooters, it should appeal to you too. )
Maybe allow maniascript to extend to inherent traits of the engine? Like Gravity, orientation (Please, PLEASE don't take the Source Engine shortcut and force the player to remain upright, facing directly upwards, at all times)

The thing that rubs me the wrong way both about you, namusrepus, and about unit above you, is that you -both- assume that because you like an idea, that "it should appeal to us too", to quote you yourself, or, supposedly, we don't really like shooters. That's not true at -all-. I -love- shooters, but frankly, I could play your good ol' team deathmatch, base-defence, or CTF all day. Because within those modes are LIMITLESS possibilities. Without bots. There's big maps that support full-scale wars with vehicles, bombing raids, and wide-open firefights. There are tight maps that support close combat and tight fights, and then there are the large, yet closed-off maps that support long-distance sniping. And those are just three possibilities I can name off the top of my head. All without needing spawnable monsters, bots, or anything of that nature. These, if you really want to get spartan (simplistic), can be played by two people. One on each team. And that's it. :P It's much better with 30, but most gamemodes -I- think up don't need anymore than player 1, player 2, a pair of mics for taunting ( :P ) and you're good to go.

...and it's also been done by every other FPS out there.

EDIT: You know what? Forget it I had a long half-page rant typed and posted up until I realized something: I just made this exact same post in another thread in the suggestions board, which is where this conversation belongs. Let's get back to talking about Gamestar's information and not meaningless speculation.
