Being someone deep into RPGs I know that there's at least 5 radical different Leveling Systems and I'd like to see these possible different systems put into place:
1.JRPG leveling
You don't distribute points to stats and they grow on a preset curve.
2.WRPG leveling-This should be default
You distribute points initially and every time you gain a level.
3.Progressive Leveling
The more you use it the more powerful in that subject you become, first implemented in Final Fantasy 2 with the horrible result of having to take damage to get higher HP, Next appeared in Brave Fencer Musashi and Elder Scrolls series
4.Grid leveling
Appearing in Final Fantasy 10 and 13 there is a type of leveling where while gaining new spells and other moves you also get more health, magic and etc, by putting points into a grid system where usually going for spells and other moves will net you status bonus putting you on an even plane with enemies
5.Zelda leveling
featured mainly in the series it self,it's a strange system where only gaining new weapons increases your damage output, getting special health items increases your health while mostly everything else from speed to accuracy doesn't change.

Re: [QuestMania Leveling Systems]
The fifth is not really RPG to me, it is more a mature and evolved platform game.
My opinion is based on playing the N64 Zelda games.
I'm far from Zelda expert though.
Do you think there will be a kind of a system possible like on TM servers, where you can choose the mentioned settings, in stead of " Time attack", "Rounds", "Laps" etc.?
Sounds like a good idea.

Re: [QuestMania Leveling Systems]
there is a 6th leveling sistem... the league of legends one
levels are gained each time in the games so everyone is on equal foot and there are ranks for the players so that they can have some special spells

Re: [QuestMania Leveling Systems]
in QuestMania, it is much easier:
you ask me, and if you are cool, I give you a level.
That's the 7th way of RPG.
(ok, I don't want to start a flood, sorry )

Sounds like a possible solution But how will i be able to level then, if i don't take an ice bath? (37°C constant here -_-)Hylis wrote:in QuestMania, it is much easier:

The League of legends level system is quite cool for newcommers
A difficult question will also be how players of different levels may interact?
Can a lv50 guy challenge a lv25 (and probably will be blown away ) or are they restricted to maybe +-3 level steps ?

We don't even know if they're going to have a leveling system...because think about it. TM could have easily, once it got to be popular online, gone the way of ProjectTorque, a free racing MMO on AeriaGames. But instead, it's made it equally accessible to all, so that a newbie has an equal chance of racing on the same track that ZooZ would...although I doubt the newb would win... Anyway, Nadeo has always, at least from my view been about accessibility, and so it would be interesting to me if they changed that...Nym wrote:The League of legends level system is quite cool for newcommers

Re: [QuestMania Leveling Systems]
Well you talk about Project Torque, a driving game (very bad game), with only 18 players (until i played it) together in the server, so a real annoying game. The tracks was prefixed, and it was really heavy coded, so not fast.
Drift City is much better, cause is a MMO (my opinion).
Now... we can talk of levelling on QuestMania, Trackmania never will have levelling system.
I guess if Nadeo wanna use time also for QuestMania, this is a question for Hylis.
The time will be the main VARIABLE also in the other games?
