Where and when ?
In this forum, he wrote on 15/06/2010:
Hylis wrote:we are not sure yet. It depends on the tests and developments here.
the best scenario would be the first one (well organized) but maybe we can release an extra one on the first year, or only three. Once the story starts, I don't think we will wait 9 months for a new tm² env, but maybe 3 months for a new maniaplanet env, even if people can skip one if they don't like or the last ones if they are less interested.
so, this
1.2.2011 - 1. envi TM²
1.5.2011 - 1. envi SM
1.8.2011 - 1. envi QM
1.11.2011 - 2. envi TM²
1.2.2012 - 2. envi SM
1.4. 2012 - 2. envi QM
1.8. 2012 - 3. envi TM²
is more likely to happen
http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 1231#p1231
(and it was still a supposed scheduling)
>> Beta TM² most likely won't be for public
Refering to TMN ESWC, TMU and TMF betas, in all 3 cases the 2nd part of the beta was not really public but included many players (essentially known TMO/TMS/TMU players of course).

The 1st part of the betas were more closed of course, because at this stage they want real testers who want to make usefull tests and feedbacks, and not players who just come to see how is the game.

The 2nd part of betas came when most things were fixed, mainly to test how the game and servers react when with more connected players. At this stage usually come the famous Hylis games (essentially fast replied little questions for forum addicts ^^) where players can win beta keys.

Just logical, however it can work the same for TM² betas... or not ! ;)

He told us that he would really love to go beta for the 10th birthday, as it is a special date, but as we all know, there is a big difference between what we would love to have and what we really get in life

"yes", for track and shoot, the oven moods are available.

For TM and QM, the four "moods" (Dawn, Day, Dusk, Night) are effective.
look for bold parts ;)

I see...
Maybe Hylis didn't add Questmania, because it isn't developed far enough, maybe he simply forgot to mention it, or maybe the translator (i this case it was me i believe) was not paying attention....
I will ask Hylis and correct it.
Nice catch ;)

To play devil's advocate for a minute: What if it's not a mistake? What if QM is primarily dungeon-themed? In which case, moods may not be necessary?

I asked Hylis for his reaction.
He confirmed that it is only for TM² and SM, and added that for QM it might be different.
I'll correct the first post right away.

And here is the google translation. Seems like no stuff next month, because they have such a workload.
Hopefully someone can make a propper translation ^^ EDIT : Yrpie did it ^^

In fact, there are so many things to prepare for the big maniaplanet adventure that we have to take more time for the system. Here, we still have a job on the master server and also on the network. These are not features, but the forced way to provide good foundations for maniaplanet.

And we don't get out with screenshots because we need to prepare ou communication as well.

In fact, the idea of preparing several outputs at once is pretty good, because it will prevent us from falling into such a long tunnel.

Don't worry about the projects, there's no problem on the horizon ! Every new day is a useful one, because we increase the quality and strength of maniaplanet for years to come.

In short, it's like when you see a building is built, it seems that the foundations are taking too much time and after everything go way faster. I do not know if we will go way faster, but in any case we'll build on great foundations.

Damien has just made some small changes to the mediatracker (very small: sorting tracks automatically, shoot key to determine the images to shoot in the replay, the camera roll in target etc.).

This is not part of the foundation, but other subjects are too boring to talk about it.

@hylis, if he reads this:
NOTHING regarding this game is too boring! even mundane coding advancements are much-welcome...at least in my opinion. Any and all news you have the time and desire to spare will be eagerly pounced upon by the community, I'm pretty sure of that. But many thanks for revealing what you have...even if the original beta-release of November is out of the question, we know that that means you're preparing nothing less than an A-Rate game, which is what we've come to expect from the great studio of Nadeo. :)

Hylis wrote:the only news I can give is that we are moving forward and that maniaplanet is shaping well.

from the E3 video, the target is Q42010, and I think it would still be feasible in term of code but to be as efficient as possible on many topics, we will probably take more time before the betas.

This is all well and good.
But is there any way of narrowing the beta release date to a specific month? For SM and TM2?
I am aware of the work to be done in both of these games. But assuming that things go the
way they have been, could we come to a conclusion?
