[TM2][Valley] Car painter corrupted user interface

Post by pmanacas »

Hi,

Whenever I try to go to paint a car in TM2 Valley the UI elements get all corrupted but the game doesn't crash.

So what di I mean by "UI elements get all corrupted":

It means that as soon as I enter the car paint editor the icons that allow to choose colors, stickers etc are all brown and black square boxes.
Also, when I hover the mouse to the top of the window all the top bar icons are also corrupted like this.

When this happens the game is still responsive.
If I click around until i find the exit icon (which has become invisible) I can actually exit the car painter and keep playing and everything becomes fine (including the top pop down bar that becomes "healed").

Here's a video of the bug

Note: This also happens in the Canyon car painter (previously to installing Valley I could paint Canyon cars no problem)

I do map editing and driving in Valley and it all works fine, this is the only way the game ever gives me problems.

I play on the almost lowest graphical settings possible.
All set for faster, no post process fx, the only setting that is not the lowest is textures which i set to medium.

This looks like a issue with your video system. Not enough or broken memory perhaps.

I assume it is a laptop? Do you have a Ati or nVidia video chipset on board as well? You should try to use that for ManiaPlanet.

I don't have a dedicated card. It is a laptop with an integrated Intel HD 3000.
It's not super, but has always run TM2 smoothly in low settings.

I have played tens of tracks since Valleys release with no problems.
I have edited tracks with no problems.
I have shot video at 720p with max settings with no problems.
I have painted cars in Canyon many times before Valley with no problems.

I have updated my graphic drivers today.
I have rebooted my system 3 times before reporting the bug.

What you can try: delete the file Default.System.Config.Gbx and try again,
perhaps the updates of the video driver have caused some issue,
and the game needs to detect the card newly.

Uncheck D3D9Ex.

If it still doesn't work, please upload your configuration file.

Done.
It still bugs.
Now the graphical corruption is even worse can't even see the car model at the centre of the paint shop.

Download config file here

Thanks, I'll try it as soon as my laptop (Core i3 with Intel HD3000 as well and Ati Radeon mobile) has Valley and all the pending updates installed.

Meanwhile please check if you're using HiRes or default resolution. This is directly visible when you start the ManiaPlanet launcher application, on the right side in blue font.

It says "High definition" in the launcher start window.
But i never understood this...
...inside the configure window i have "High definition" unticked
and I remember once (months ago) the game asked if I wanted to download high definition textures and I clicked "No"

Probably an update downloaded it again. Look into the PacksCache folder if you have both sets.
Sorry to say this, your configuration is working fine on my laptop, even with high resolution textures.
However I could not install Intels latest drivers, it has to be done by my laptop vendors own update application automatically. At the moment it is installing additional updates.

GPU-Z shows the following on my machine:
