For completeness, setting LOD to clamp in the NVidia control panel gives the best result so far:

I replaced the material using the mesh editor, obviously that solves the issue (only did lower row of quarterpipes and right side wall curves, left rest for reference, still LOD clamped):

But that doesn't solve existing maps that do not use those blocks of course, and requires quite a bit of embedding (these two were already 1MB).
