What do you suggest?

One thing I could think of that might mitigate confusion is extra overlay, but I would be against any form of that as I found the learning curve enjoyable and felt good once I worked out what was going on (only played about 5hrs).

Once someone points it out it's noticeable to see the <> [] but for people that maybe don't come on the forums or arn't told by anyone, making the colour different would make sense.

Did you try uninstall, run ccleaner (backup registry before applying changes) and reinstall?

The chatbox flashes as though i'm holding down the return key
Occasionally I can type the odd word but its really affecting socialising in the game
is there anyone else getting this?
is there any data I can give to help devs identify this?

I don't like to admit it but it's true - many achivements have kept me playing well past my bed time!!!
