I did try disabling sound and the game didn't freeze at all for the 30mins I played it for. I found it hard to play without sound! FYI - I do have two soundcards, Creative Labs X-FI and Realtek (onboard) and the game freezes when using either one.

Every so often the game freezes on me. I would say maybe about every 30mins to an hour or so just after I've completed a run and viewing the replay times or just as I've pressed a button to start a new run.
