Just be sure to use the same Maniaplanet-Account in the standalone version, don`t make a new one, but use existing account.

No, you can use your account either over steam or the standalone version. The standalone version has even some things, which are not possible over steam yet, like the TM2-title, where you can drive on every environment on the same server.
