[ShootMania Vehicles]

this seems like a good thread to start. some suggestions are:

the basics
-tank
-jeep
-motorcycle
-heli
-small boat

Totaly new suggestions (these may seem outside the box)

-drop ships (can parashute-spawn from these) (can be shot down) (drop ship respawns at base)
-spawn point carrier tanks (ground based drop-ship for spawn moving)
-carrier planes (non respawn drop ships) (can drop a man in a tank)
-hot air bloons (can see whole map) (easy targets)
-big boat (water based carrier, can spawn small boats) (can place blocks on top)
-hydrofoil (water & land vehicle)
-mech warrior suits (maybe in an expansion) (you may need new blocks for this idea too)
-jets (maps may be too small)



remember these are just suggestions
-if you don't like them, don't argue against them, just make suggestions of your own

Vehicles will probly be a must if SM is to follow a vehicle game such as TM2. So this thread should be more "to the point" than other threads.


my experience with vehicle combat in games:
1.I love tank battles, but i always get owned by heli players.
The game should have land/sea/air combat, but air fighters need to have a weakness. Otherwise most players will turn it into a air combat game.

2.Map makers have done great sea battle maps using 3rd party Battlefield 2 mods.
There will be hundreds of D-Day beach maps that will include a beach landings. I think that sea battles should also be taken into the suggestion pot.

3.Some games have cars with guns.
It is fun to have a free-for-all shootout with jeeps shooting each other.

These all sound like great ideas...but I got to thinking...what if this game is absolutely NOTHING like we're expecting? Think about it...remember back in the day right after the shootmania link was discovered? Shootmania-carpark.com had a pic up of a tank lookin' thing with a big bazooka on the front of it...maybe this won't involve people at all... :idea: :?:

My fake tank still works :lol:
Sorry but it was a render that has nothing to do with Nadeo :oops:

good point... then I still say this thread is the most important thread for ShootMania.

If it is just cars shooting eachother:
-space ship battles
-submarine battles
-custom cars (like in TM) shooting each other.





I think I like it (fake or not)... you are on to something.

Damn you :P Well, it doesn't mean you have more right because of that Mike, now we're back to square one :?

And while i'm on it. Mike, Nadeo has obviously made the whole idea behind this game already. And i'm sure Florent can't keep every little detail for himself until the alpha release :)

I know they are getting ready for beta testing... and maybe they have thought of everything. But they made this forum... and if you don't like it, don't post to it.

but you got to admit, vehicles in ShootMania are a must.

This depends on the map style. If it's a close range combat, which i would prefere, then vehicles are a no go.
But on large maps they could be cool to bring you in the close range combat (which is my fav style of palying fps, damn sniper ^^).

How bout a Fake/real modes!? this applies to both vehicles, spawn points, and all of that stuff. Lets say there is a "real" mode where you can get your basic weapons and vehicls, tank, boat, etc. But how bout a "fake" mode :o :shock: Where you can play as aliens, or have plasma guns and UFO type vehicles. And another thought of mine is that in the servers, Importing can be turned on and off by specific server owner/super admin settings. Like if you had a nailbiting comp, imports would be "off". If its a funserver, or a relaxed server, there can be imports "on". You could always have a "real/nonimport" server, or a "fake/import" server for just having fun. Customization is key! This would allow more controlled customization. Consider it Nadeo!
