Guess why I'm not going to waste time on creating titlepacks ;).

Titlepacks are a nice idea, but with the wrong tools. I never understood what is so stupid about simple "content packs" instead of "own wannabe games in a game".

Gotta be unique with this awesome operating system everyone's forced to use to play 2 games behind it!

A Title is not a "content pack" even if many title packs are only content packs. For example, RPG, Stunters or WTC are much more than content packs. These titles are a "home" for a community. They have ladder, servers, events, etc.

Monolith is an example of the title packs next generation. It's a special atmosphere with his own characters, colors, items, mods and maybe more (gamemods, script, etc). I think next step for title packs is to design "almost a game". And a content pack is not a video game...

It will be my next goal after Raid². I think we need more features but first it should be fun to design a nexgen title. A story, a atmosphere and a character (even in TM) as i wrote in a meuhbox article (in french  )

And this will be for fun even if my title will never be released, even if nobody play it. Popularity shouldnt' be the creator priroty. Or this is a fragile motivation. My motivation is to create something, to have fun and to learn. Even by myself just beause i spend time on this subject. Thanks to Maniaplanet and his community because i learn so much things. So my message to creators : be amitious and have fun. Popularity will come, or not, but the best satisfaction is to build something strong and nice. This is more important than popularity ;)

I like the professionnal aspect of Monolith. I like to discover the concept and the way to present this king of stuff. I like very much the "nextgen" aspect because i think about something like that for a few months now. About the atmosphere, i'm indifferent. It's not my cup of tea but i don't hate it ;)

But i don't like petition. That mean nothing :? Be confident with Nadeo, they have much more informations than us and much more competences. Cry to have Monolith is a bit childishness. And i don't like the Petition way. Too serious maybe for me. Better to ask Hylis to have some informations about Monolith to understand the stuff they done and why they take this decision (and respect it) than to require they release Monolith...

We know Nadeo work for TMU on environnement named "Toy" and "Moon". They didn't release them for good reasons, they know what they are doing, So please respect the professionals like they respect the community content ;)

But what place has a content pack then?
Forcing everything to be a huge-scale project is often not wanted by content creators and is obviously not a correct solution. Want to create a small set of fancy objects and release them? Nobody needs that silly complex titlepack stuff around it then ;).

Remember how there are other people than you who also have their share of wishes. While you praise nando at all times possible, others raise serious concerns/complaints about how their smaller scale project goes by unnoticed, which is certainly a valid motivation killer (which is why I won't try either).

Many people care about some sort of popularity. Titlepacks don't help with that, since they aren't accessible and meant for huge scale projects (like RPG). Meanwhile I think the RPG titlepack also lacks accessibility and has popularity issues too ;).

You might not care about popularity, many others do!

This is still a good idea and I'd love to see those Titlepacks that are their own "game". But the problem is that not everyone wants to create his own game.
The current customization options we have, are only availably to their full extend in a titlepack. Thus players have to create a titlepack everytime they want to share a bit of content with other players. There is no way of simply sharing a few created items in a map without creating a whole "game".
Thus we end up with a lot of "games" that offer only little content and thus fail to be popular.

All in all, creating "games" with titlepacks is awesome and cool, but there is no alternative to share your content, if you lack the motivation/time/capability to create your own "game" ;)

NADEO should provide a Developer Pack and include ShootMania Monolith as a sample.

There is alternative for many stuff. Mods can be in pack, skin, 3d models (Characters and cars) also and you can share via Maniapark or a manialink or a website, etc. Tracks can be share in ManiaExchange, video on Youtube, Gamemodes on Maniapark.

You can also share Items on Maniapark. You can embed special items on a track also. What it is different here : you can't share a track with items without a title pack (well you can but you need to provide items with the track...).

Maybe we miss a step between tracks, items, mods and title packs. I hope in the future we could have "intermediate packs". For example a solo campaign base on a title pack. Or a items pack which could be used by title pack creators. And not embed in the pack but outside. So if player got it already he don't need to re-load it. The same for mods. They could be load outside titlepacks. But it could be "jungle" with too many things, done quickly and difficult for players to make a choice.

I think a good solution for future is to have more cooperation between creators to make strong title packs. It's a harder way but more interesting. Maybe we miss a place for projects. But communty have competences and creativity to make great things. Maybe not popular but it is a different subject. In first title pack quality, then, later popularity (or not  ).

Creating something that is is used or played gives the good feeling. So popularity is defenitly a factor in this case. But it also the same as with maniaplanet and everything else. U need to advertise it, and find some people who are actively use it. Sooner or later peepz will move on anyway, just like purchacing new games.
