TrackMania Original "Error 12 157" when trying to connect

Hello there,

since the masterserver of TrackMania (Original) is working again since yesterday, the last server works again and also some players could play again. I've tried to install the first TM game on both VMWare Player and VirtualBox on Windows XP SP3. One year ago, when the masterserver was still up before the crash I could play online.

Now when I try to check for an update in the launcher, I get the following error:


When I try to open the internet page in the game, I also end up with this error code and I can't play online.



The same happens to the Original version of the game. Somehow I seem to be the only one with this problem. Nadeo, please look over that issue, I dunno how to fix it.

This is "ERROR_WINHTTP_SECURE_CHANNEL_ERROR" (Indicates that an error occurred having to do with a secure channel). Probably you don't have the most recent certificates in your system. Update your OS?

Hey, I've just updated to the latest version, but sadly it's not fixed

(If that's even possible to update, still.. I think it is with a registry hack, anyway..)

Why were these servers re-opened again, if this only runs on an unsupported OS?

maybe they could recompile a new Version of the game with the source Code without this starforce (crapforce) copy protection,
but i don't think they do so, a new Version without starforce which accepts united forever keys would be great at all

Updating XP didn't help either. I might try Windows 7, there TMO still works.

Small update: I've installed in on Windows 7 and it works perfectly

Update to Windows 7, evidently. XP is not supported any more and probably won't have the certificate chain required, or the chain doesn't support XP.

Not meaning to be rude Miss but some people like to play with old stuff. E.g. I have a 1953 Austin and I love to drive it on the occasional Sunday. I also play the original Zork on my 1986 Mac because it's still fun.

I'm sure that hylis and his team get a kick out of seeing people still in love with their earlier creations because they no doubt love them too.

Players need to log into the server in order to play with others online.
