How to handle locators if not hosting to Maniapark?

Post by Trackmaniack »

All right, so I've got some skins I want to put up--but since several of them are, as defined by Maniapark, simply recolors of other skins, they're not going to let me host them there...so where can I upload them that's public, has fairly fast bandwidth, and can be easily found by locators?

Dropbox is a good alternative, i belive you can get up to 2GB free when you sign up. Just upload it to the public section to allow linking...

or you could use the many file hosting websties..

Dropbox should like to turn off the upload, when there is too much traffic on it. So i don't know if that is a good option. Good that i have my own payed webspace, but for that i self don't know good free hosters, when some exists, for me is that still only a Urban Myth. ^^

On a basic dropbox account you have 10GB/day per file before they delete that one file. So I don't think hosting on dropbox is a problem. Source: https://www.dropbox.com/help/45
We watch carefully for any fraudulent use of Dropbox public links and will suspend suspicious links when they are detected. Links that use up more than 10GB/day for Basic (free) accounts and 250GB/day for Pro (paid) accounts are automatically suspended.
The only question is what they define as "fraudulent use". Dunno if direct linking is forbidden....

Or you can try this.
- You did.

Chevron, that requires a paid membership for zips, hence I can't see its use (unless you're really looking to shell out some cash) for locs.

I also suggest dropbox, so long as one places it in the public directory there are no issues using it.

Have you tried it? My account is free and I can upload zips.

I'm trying Chevron's solution and it seems to work. I haven't tested the locator ig yet, but I don't see no reason why it wouldn't work. (Also, free.)

Dropbox. I make locators on dropbox. Or get an FTP server, I also have one.

Maybe I just misinterpreted their "Zip Files / Folders" to mean upload the said things, rather than zip them once they are within the cloud, in which case I revoke my comments about the service. If it works all is good!
