"Registering the package" What does it mean?

Post by BigBang1112 »

I'm asking this because it's a process that takes super long to do and, what does it even do in the end?
The package file seems unchanged, the game does not seem to send much data anywhere by looking at the Task Manager.

I only noticed that it changes the online title pack planet price, but why would that take like 7 minutes to update.

The larger the title pack, the longer the registering part takes.

Is it fine to upload the title pack to the store while the package is being registered? Won't that conflict anything?

So apparently the length of this process takes longer the more campaigns the title pack has.
About the internet activity, there's some 10Mb/s appearing sometimes so I guess it's sending some of the title pack data somewhere.

Hello,

The "Register" button does a bunch of stuff :
- It compresses and encrypt all the data of the pack (that's probably the long part. The encryption is what makes it hard to use the content you create without paying you the Planets you ask for, when you set a price.). This can get quite long with big TitlePacks, and it is a disk and CPU intensive process.
- Then it computes a checksum (this is also quite a bit of work) and various pieces of data, and send them to us (as you have noticed). That's the registration part.

Hope it helps.

Tip for anyone else reading this : you don't have to register a title when you are working on it. Use the "Test title" feature to save time. Registering is the first step of a "publication" process.

Thanks for the details.

1 big campaign = 2 second registration, 40 campaigns using the same maps = 20 minute registration :1010 :D
I guess my plan of doing ranked 5 record types per map (about 200 campaigns) isn't like going to be real xd

Wow! What a nice dialog :D

The registration of 10 campaigns took about 5 minutes (I can't tell exact, I didn't timer it). Before the latest update, it took 40 minutes. Beautiful change, I appreciate it a lot, especially when I have to update all 6 Challenge title packs at once

Thanks a lot!
