Thought I'd make it a new topic instead of updating the topic buried in a thread.
To give our Glimratten Elite & Royal server some extras to motivate players I've take the latest SMART release and stripped it of all non functional scripts. Added new scripts and or adopted some of the non-functional ones and made it version 0.6. It's not really a good version number as some of the original functions have gone, some original functions have been modified and some new ones have been added.
Bottom line is that it's still SMART, but it's not ;)
I'm currently trying to make the source code easier to adapt to other server environments so other can download it as well.
Here's a list of the function currently working and added. The main functions (user/admin control, mapslist, jukebox, etc.. they are all still there):
- Distinctive use for Royal and Elite modes
- Does not have to run on the same PC that runs the server
- Dynamic point limit on end of map
- Donation options through window and chatcommand
- ManiaExchange map download
- Warns system for admins (to warn users) with option to move to spec mode
- Simple translation command for admins (to be able to notify foreign players)
- Royal event triggers for player making continues hits. (+3 +5, +7, +9) Currently plays specific sound
- Sounds for round start, map end and map loading
- Loading screens work again (screen shown while new map loads)
- Elite Random sound for Near Miss shots by attacker
- Elite trigger (currently plays sound) for a flawless attack round (without losing armor)
- Elite trigger for red/blue team winning, currently plays specific sound for team
- Specific/Different welcome screen for Elite and Royal
and more changes.

Good Job ;) Smart is still the best server controller.

MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

Thanks!

Just wondering.. Do I need to go through the effort of making this available for download ?
It's quit a lot of work and if no one is gonna use it, then I'd rather put my time into adding features we want to add :)
So, drop a note if our interested. Ifnot, no probs.

+ no longer modded scripts required
+ stat counters work (hits per min / kills per day. Etc..)
+ in-game notification best round performance
+ stat push works now, allowing end of round push to external scripts for e.g. cup results.

I am definitely interested. Some gaming servers do not have direct access to mySQL databases and it appears that this would make it possible to run on a server such as gameservers.com. The Vibes server would benefit from this type of access.

Hmm well gameservers.com just doesn't allow you to run any other instance or job except for the maniaplanet server.
You could install Smart on a complete different machine and let it control your server on gameservers.com. Unfortunately, when there's 20 people on your server, the internet traffic becomes to slow. You could strip down live rankings and update rankings and such on your own database at the end of a match, instead of realtime.
I still need to rewrite part of the code and I might as well built it in as an admin switch or something.
When I have some progress, I'll let you know.
