TUTORIEL OF USE MAP EDIT (BLOCK MIXING HEXA) TOOL REALIZED BY TGYoshi

Download link : http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 65&t=19890

This tutoriel aims to be a simple base(basis) of things to know to begin to use MAP EDIT.
I no developpe here that the main thing.
If you meet errors or oversights, I am sorry about it and I promises me to rectify or to add if need, according to your reflections.
Thanks to you and good reading!

1°) Interface of the TOOL MAP EDIT:

Image

2°) Notion of axes address and coordinates, and of the number of levels:

Image

3°)Classic procedure of use of Map Edit:

Open Maniaplanet, and launch your game(canyon, stadium, valley)

Open the EDITOR of the game, and click " New map ", open the Editor in simple or advanced mode

Begin to build your track, single step.

As we wish to make a block-mixing, to see to deposit both blocks to be mixed, lastly before protecting the track in the editor of the game.

eg :

Image

These two blocks cannot (on the editor of the game) be linked one in the other - red color of the synonymic cursor of impossibility.

Position then, the second block, above the first one, as such:

Image

Here the example, shows the second block, 1 level above the first block.
Keep in head this figure.

What is needed it is to retain the NUMBER of levels that it is necessary so that the block to be mixed finds itself imbricated in the other one.

In other words: if block 1 is on the ground (= 15) block 2 in the Editor of the game is him, deposited at the level = 16, that is 1 level ABOVE the basic block.

When we open MAP EDIT and when we load the track, we find ourselves with the coordinates of the last block (block 2) to mix, visible in the left column next to the name of the block 2 (x; and z)
In the right column, spot the line of Y which will have to give Y = 16, then click the arrow "in the" "bottom" to make lower this figure in Y = 15

Make APPLY and FILE / SAVE
And all is good ! :D

Save your track in the game

Image

Go out of the track and stay then in the menu of the editor.

ALT + ENTER to put the game on windows mode.
or
ALT + TAB to change windows and applications. ;)

Open MAP EDIT
Load your track on Tool.

Image

Image

Open the explorer Windows of your computer.
Look then for the first time, your directory of track in the game

(By default: C:\Users\xxx\Documents\ManiaPlanet\Maps)

What once gives loaded your track:

Image

Choose finally the block or the blocks to be modified.

An advice: make these changes one by one and according to your overhang in the track
Blocks which can be quickly added, and make you lose your marks for the later changes.

Image

Once the choosen block, note to the right of the interface of MAP EDIT, the coordinates of three positional axes of said block.
According to what you want to make of this block, to click arrows corresponding to the axis to be modified
Ex: position Y (height) here in three to come down in 2.
Note that as long as you will not have clicked the button " APPLY " your chnage will not be taken into account (coordinated to the left next to the name of the block)

Important, after every changes and applications, to make FILE / SAVE in the drop-down menu of MAP EDIT

Image

Click " to LOAD A TRACK " in the editor of the game
Load your track

And here is the result !

Image

Continue your track and in the next mixing block make the same handlings:
Saving the track
Exit the editor
ALT + ENTER or ALT + TAB

Then: reloading of the map in MAP EDIT

Image

This function avoids you going to look for your track again in the explorer Windows.
You can leave MAP EDIT opened during your mapping, this key RELOAD is useful in a way as REFRESHMENT of map!

When you open a track in MAP EDIT, and when you moved forward well her.
You go to find yourselves with a listing of blocks which can be important.
What it is necessary to hold thus, it is to open MAP EDIT immediately after to have deposited your block to be mixed, he will so be the last one on the listing of the tool, and thus more easily locatable

LAST ADVICE :

Don't use the key UNDO of the EDITOR OF the GAME. If you have made bloc-mixing, this feature gives a bug which "breaks" your blocks mixing already realized, and you will then have to redo everything ..
Thus favor, the function "eraser" of the editor, where you made an error correct.

Thank you for your attention.
Best regards

And sorry for my very bad english translation...

Not sure if it's just me but whenever I use the Road2Way on the ground I get an Unknown Chunk error
Also not sure if this is just since last update of Maniaplanet.

The Unknown Chunk issue is pretty difficult at the moment since I have yet no idea what really causes it.
It happens on a few reproducible occasions but it only started happening a few maniaplanet-updates ago.

As far as I've researched it has something to do with the number of blocks not complying with the total amount of blocks (there always seem to be more blocks then expected, as a result this error occurs).

Feel free to upload the data.bin produced somewhere after you load the map + the exact error showing up so I can check additional cases for issues once I'm able to debug this issue further.

I can reproduce it every time with Valley just by dragging 3 Road2Way blocks on the ground and saving it then loading it in mapedit :?
