[SOLVED][Weapon Issue] I cant bump myself on walls.

Hi there :D

Im trying to create a PowerJump-Weapon. So basically when you shoot under yourself, you'll get bumped rly high. I've tweaked the values and the height of the bump is perfect.

The problem is it only works when I shoot directly under me ( vertically). When I try shooting a wall (horizontally), the projectile explodes, but I dont get bumped at all. I know its possible cuz with the default rockets you can bump yourself everywhere.

My bump-values/settings:

Questions:
1.
Is it possible (via the editor or via a script) to let the weapon NOT have any effect on other players. I want it to be more of a personal weapon. You can only bump yourself. ( not the others )

2.
How can I tweak the bumping on walls ( horizontally )

There is an huge difference betwen your Blow radius 0.25 and Vertical Blow Radius 4

Ha you tried to change the blow radius to something bigger ???


I've tested some Blow strenght on toads and i found it a bit too random
OS:Windows 8.1 x64
CPU: i5 2500k
RAM: 2x4Go G.Skill Ares
GPU: MSI GTX570

I think the aim it to bump yourself from the ground and walls but NOT TO bump other players.

Ha ok... I made some test and yes and the horizontal blow looks very weird...

If we put some wtf value to vertical and strenght like 1000 and 1000 we are on the moon in less than 1 sec...
but for the horizontale blow it looks like there is a limit i can't bump myself more than 5/6meters in horizontale with decent value


So the problem probably comes from the horizontale that is break or limited

From what i read (i haven't looked at the AM for a while) the vertical setting being a "Ratio", i would say that if you want to have the same bumping strength in every direction, just set it at 1.

ty for the feedback Gabriel! ;)

So I have 4*4 now, which means 16 vertical bump.

So with your suggestion I should make it : 16 - 1 ( = 16 vertical & 16 horizontal )
I tried this & now bumping vertically isn't working at all.


Maybe its a bug or maybe im missing something :/

It is a bit more complicated than that.

On all of our weapons, there is a restriction on the vertical blow, you can't jump higher with a rocket than with a jump. This restriction still applies to custom weapon. If you try to put 100 in "Blow Strength", you will not jump higher.

The parameter Vertical Blow Scale, scales the power of the blow, but also the restriction. That's why you see this difference between vertical and horizontal blow.


That being said, you were on the right track by trying 16-1. If you keep VerticalBlowScale at 1, you will be limited by the basic "jump restriction", try with a bit more, 1.3 or 1.5 can do the trick.

Yeps, You are totally right. I was playing with the values and I managed to get the desired effect.

20 bump strength
1.7 vertical bump
3.0m bump radius

Feels a bit like a default rocket on steroids ^^
