Early test for the updated Buddies plugin

Post by Cerovan » 16 Jul 2015, 09:48

Hello everyone,

I would like to test with you the updated Buddies plugin before to push it on the next update (i need more people to test it to see if it works well on more computers)

The plugin is in the attachments, download the file and place it into:

Code: Select all

C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\Documents\ManiaPlanet\Media\Manialinks\Common\Chat
Create the folder(s) if it(they) doesn't exist.

The changelog for this version is:
  • Pending buddies invitations will show up at each connexion of the game until it is accepted or discarded
  • Pending buddies invitations will show up each time the player changed his state from busy or away to available
  • The notifications/received messages will not trigger the Maniaplanet bar if the player is in the busy or away state.
  • The chat will transform all the strings in sent messages including "http://", "https://", "www." and "maniaplanet://" to clickable links
If you see any bug, please report it here.

Thanks!

I just added the updated script. No bugs found yet.
But one point of improvement to the buddy list order:
It would be better to show the offline friends that have unreaded messages above the other offline friends on the top. So you don't have to scroll to the bottom to find the offline message you received.

Agreed. This doesnt look like a big deal at first, but when you start to have 100+ friends this can become something quite annoying^^

Bug: It seems to me that very long messages like for example a length bigger then 80 characters will not break a new line. I could be wrong but its interfering with the nickname of the player you are chatting with.

Ok i see where it's coming from, it's not really a bug, it's for a feature that can be used with the new exe :x (which will be activated with the update).

@toffe: i'll see if i can do that before the update, but it's an edge case (people with 50+ buddies are rare), so not a priority (i mean to the point to delay the update)

I am afraid thats the great part of this small community; A lot of people know each other, and i think i can say a lot of people have therefore more then 50+ buddies, and its certainly not rare ;)

I agree.
Because the community is small lots of people tend to add eachother to get in touch more easily. Lots of my friends have lots of friends :p.

You could also see it like this : The same players play end up playing the same players a lot so its easier to become friends. That's why MP-users usually have loads of friends.

And this "bug" happens quite a lot. Having it fixed would be awesome, but it's also not super urgent I guess :thx:

I just checked the code to do that, it won't be possible before the update, too much code to change (the code is from someone else but the way it has been developped require a lot of rewrite because it wasn't anticipated to do this). So sorry but you'll have to wait a little longer :(

I could only test the link feature in messages, but it works well. good work :thumbsup:
And I would like to see the suggested buddy sorting feature, too. I already had to buy many buddyslots because I have more buddies than the list was long. (Most of these buddies are inactive, but I still don't want to delete them ;))

Also that's some huge amount of lines of code.
And these variable declarations already cry for structs. :shock:

Code: Select all

			declare Text[] 		Buddies_Login 						for Page;
			declare Text[] 		Buddies_Presence 					for Page;
			declare Text[] 		Buddies_ServerLogin 				for Page;
			declare Text[] 		Buddies_ServerName 					for Page;
			declare Text[] 		Buddies_ServerModeInfos 			for Page;
			declare Text[] 		Buddies_ServerJoinLink 				for Page;
			declare Text[]		Buddies_ServerPlayersCountInfos 	for Page;
			declare Real[] 		Buddies_ServerPlayersCountRatio 	for Page;
			declare Boolean[]	Buddies_Server_IsPrivate 			for Page;
			declare Boolean[] 	Buddies_Server_IsLobby 				for Page;
			declare Boolean[] 	Buddies_Server_IsFull 				for Page;;
I still don't understand why Nadeo chose the hard path and wrote an own scripting language :D
