Maniaplanet 4 - July update

Post by xbx »

Hello!

Here is a MP4 bugfixes update.
Note: This version has an incompatible protocol change for Shootmania. Both the client and the server need to be up to date to be able to connect.

Changes (client and server), in no particular order:

  • SM: fix display of crosshair and +1 in new replays.
  • SM: fixes to the mouse aiming when in bad ping situations.
  • SM: annoying flash when spawning.
  • TM/SM: various fixes for spectator mode (shorts cuts, camera stuck after finish line on rounds mode, ...)
  • TM: approximate position/velocity available on server, "observer mode" can force or forbid overview camera when playing.
  • Improvements to the incremental updater.
  • Fix the advertissements billboard always displaying the same image
  • Fix crashes on obstacle loadscreen with verynice graphics settings
  • map editor crash fix + items are now ordered as in MP3
  • Improvements to the mesh editor
  • impovements in the menu script api (matchsettings)
  • scoretable (key nav, local rank)
  • SendCustomEvent() now works from client layers to the server.
  • TM: Fixed validation of replays in stadium maps with tents or dirt (on the dedicated server) + include&log more metadata with the replays
  • better behaviour of multi-client xmpp chat
  • fix manialink quads "autoscale"
  • creating non-title packs should now work

Same here, although I see some friends are still playing. Is this what Nadeo means by the bullet point 'Improvements to the incremental updater' in the latest change log?
And even then; still no news of fixing the (almost) game breaking bug which sometimes counts the last CP as the finish time, making wins sometimes impossible even if you get dedi 1.

Those who can still play just didn't download the update yet.

Yeah, probably. Lucky them - but why force such an update, or not allow rollback when the client is still obviously usable without the update. Well; I'm giving up until there's a work-around/fix.

Actually, I gave it one more try, and selected 'Cancel' when it told me the title wasn't found. Now MP is stuck in an infinite loop repeatedly trying to download 'TMStadium@nadeo' and immediately failing. So maybe the file on the server is either corrupted, not present at all, or merely overloaded with downloads.

It was indeed an issue with steam only.
The steam version should be OK now, sorry for the issues...
