Moods

Post by QuantumBliss » 09 Mar 2013, 10:39

Hi Maniaplanet,

This is actually a suggestion. Couldn't find the suggestion section so Moderator if you're so kind to move this to the suggestion area, that would be kewl.

Since I began playing in MMOGs, I have find myself changing my nickname very often, just to tell other players my 'mood' or in what 'mood' I have come online to play.

In TM ad TM2 I have changed my nickname to names like such:

EiiG Still Strength $F00E$F50i$FA0i$FF0G$z$i$5dfStill Strength
Jumpstart! $i$df5Jumpstart
Ayes&Nos $i$5dfAye$fffs&$df5No$fffs
DediDay! $i$5dfDediDay!
Hoosajiggawha?
mayI? $imay$w$0ffI$n$f00?
noLoL no$ff0LoL
GPS $s$w$i$00fG$0f0P$0ffS
Seeder $i$s$0f0Seed$0ffer
Superposition $i$l[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/]$ff0Super$fffposition$l
Yesahs $i$ff0Yesahs
$i$effFinest $bffTouch$5df$n! Finest Touch!

;)
I believe to have found a solution to allow me to keep one nickname, but still be able to share my mood other players and also to see in what mood other players are currently online.

 The solution would be a collection of strings, that represent different moods, from which a player would be able to browse and select a mood that fits his/her actual reason for coming online, such as: training, competition, socialising, being-awesome, chatting, angry, happy, smiley or whatever,...
 Additional to the brows able list, a player would be able to define a new mood-string and add it to the list.

With such a 'mood' list, I would be able to leave my nickname constant and always select or create a new mood in which I want to appear online.

Now after selecting a 'mood' string, the player will appear online and in chat as: nickname[mood-string] or Ubisoft could put the mood-string as a subindex beneath the nickname.

Thank you for reading my suggestion and I hope that it will be implemented in MP3.1x.

I doubt there are more than 10 guys who are interested in such feature. and Nadeo is the developer, not Ubisoft.

We've already got moods. Day, Night, Sunset and Sunrise. This I feel is plenty. If I wanted to know and hear about other kinds of moods I would switch computer off and sit and talk to the wife :roflol:

It would be interesting to see what moods players comes up with.

Today I would have added: pro-like and 'like mad'.

LOL.

I only have one online mood. It's called online :P. But the mood of this line is a lie.
My other moods are mythical beasts, which are my avatars. I destroy them with writing. Or sometimes become them through writing. They say writing is born out of tormented and agonized and depressed moods, but I don't know. I have so much fun writing from an utterly tormented or agonized or depressed point of view. So when I write first-person as a tormented, depressed and agonized person my mood is very happy. Do you think that kills the point?

Sorry about this post. Making sense would kill my mood. Which is: Gryphonic. But you figured that out already.
My point is, what defines a mood? On one fork of the tail, I don't think it really matters because in my experience of this game the people on servers don't care what mood you're in as long as you're reasonably respectful and polite, and if you're not going to be reasonably respectful and polite then you shouldn't be chatting IMHO.
On the other taloned-paw, it's hard to resist another opportunity to defy behaviouralists. But on another huge, feathered wing, the chat box on every server I've seen is already far too cluttered up, as it is. And on a hind paw with retractile claws, the moods system that you see in Facebook and Myspace and places like that is faaaar to simplistic to actually reflect what you're feeling most of the time, even if you do think people you barely know (at most!) will care.

I love chimeras. And being them.

In other vocalizations, there would be no point to this feature. I'm just making sure you understand that before you carry on.
But the lack of a point isn't saying you shouldn't do it. Steve Jobs, of all people, proved that. If this system was there I would definitely abuse it and do things that make negative amounts of sense.
The eyes of the plush lobster stared deep into my soul. I picked it up, and then I was a panther.

-> yes, this is the exact response I was waiting for. Sometimes you want to write your mood before anything you write on chat. Your moods are amazing.

I think you missed that generally I was saying "this is probably a mildly bad idea".
I think it makes far more sense on a place like Facebook or an MMO where you might actually be talking to people who you know in reality, and who will actually care about your mood.
