What is space distortion?

Looking at some things with openplanet and...

The button and the menu don't do anything, which may be because the associated script is missing, not loaded or broken.

This seems like it could be something cool

Moved. That looks interesting indeed.. I've never seen it before, so it may be new to 4.1, actually :O

Edit: I can confirm this was added with 4.1, though it looks like the code for it in the editor is non-existant, so it's hard to say what it does exactly. There's a few distort parameters, including a vec3 WorldDistortScales (which probably holds the 3 values shown in your screenshot) and WorldDistortXYZ which is a CPlugBitmap (in other words, an image/texture). Initial suspicions are that this is for the new unannounced game.

Or simply a short effect when driving fast and being accelerated eg through a booster, or running on a speed path.
I would rather see this in the mediatracker, but who knows...
