For some players, it would be definitely great to see TM2U in Maniaplanet.
In my opinion, Maniaplanet isn't created to just remake games such as TM2S.
Think about it: How long did nadeo need to remake only ONE title (In this case, TM2S)? 1/2 year.. If they want to remake ALL TMUF titles: It would require more than 3 years or something..

It is definitely okay to remake some popular games as Trackmania² Stadium, but that shouldn't be the main aim of Maniaplanet. The aim should be to create some new titles, environments.
However, the remake of games might attract some old TM fans, but some people wanna see new titles :)

Thanks

You bring up some good points in your post andrus. I have to respond to this one though:

Probably true. But, in my defense... I didn't buy ShootMania Storm until December 2012 (when grappling hooks came). That's about six months after you could first purchase it. I really wasn't sure I even wanted it. The update with grappling hooks finally convinced me. But it took many months and lots of updates before I was finally ready to buy. So I'm not as big of a Nadeo fanatic as you might think.

That having been said, I just haven't found any other games that provide the same kind of fun and replay value as Nadeo's games (Minecraft came close). So I do see Nadeo's games as a good investment.

I have my concerns about adding six more environments to the game. For one thing, the Dedicated server grows larger every time a new game is added to ManiaPlanet. If six more environments were added, wouldn't the Dedicated server software grow to be several gigabytes or larger? That becomes quite an obstacle to updating your server, especially when your server may only be supporting a single title.

The issue of cost is definitely one a lot of people focus on. I can understand people not wanting to purchase a game they already have or which contains minimal new features. Wouldn't offering TM2U for free to people who own TMUF be killing most of Nadeo's profits? The majority of people who are going to get it would probably be owners of TMUF anyway. So it makes it questionable to embark on the whole enterprise in the first place.

It's true, I don't want to see TMUF die, but at the moment it is around the same level of activity as Canyon (I'm basing this on TMX KO and MTC participation and number of tracks uploaded on MX TM2C vs TMX TMUF.

So I don't see TMUF going anywhere for a while. It works on Windows 7, and probably on Windows 8, and so we will be able to play it for many years to come. Yeah, of course I'd love to see how it looks with ManiaPlanet's graphics engine... I'd love to see all the environments get block updates in the future... and I'd love to be able to copy/paste my Island track when I build into the side of the building area, but I can live without those things for now.

I'm anxious for TM2Valley and QuestMania, and whatever else "new" that Nadeo has in store for us.

TM2 Stadium is not a remake of Nations, it's a port with new blocks and features, also I think we could get TM2 United for free if we own a TMUF Key

Reason: Somehow this post works better if it's spoken. The point being, you can say it differently but it amounts to the same thing. :P

I meant TM2 stadium, again sorry for my English.

I've seen a topic made by kamyl long time ago, where he said that adding a few features to stadium but not changing the gameplay at all and charging 9 euros for something that's actually for free makes no sense, and lots of people attacked him like 'ooo you need to support nadeo if you love the game, if i could i'd buy it for $1000'. Well every game has a bunch of ultra-hardcore-fans who would do so, but in my opinion Nadeo sometimes misses the golden opportunity to bring masses to te game.

There are 11 millions of people who bought minecraft and there are probably around 100 000 people playing minecraft right now. TMU&NF have above 7 million accounts created, but how many people are there online right now? 4684 logins online - 1432 server logins = 3252 people online. It's still a lot but the Machine of Mania runs on community - minecraft has weekly added snapshots but all of the content is made by mojang, and the content of Mania is made by community. What I'm worried about is that Mania slowly runs out of its fuel. When the community is separated between MP and TMF the system is even closer to being dead. It's sad but true. Another not smart decision of Nadeo was making separate rankings for each title. This creates loads of divisions and it makes the whole game feel empty, because people are spread over numerous servers. TMUF had the nice thing that you just click 'browse servers' and on the top page you see: Mistral, Nascar, RPG, stunt, LOLs... but now you go to platform title and see one server. It's empty. That's exactly why I think thet even though TM2 isn't even finished, it's already dead.

+1

True story. Game has few potential (I mean players, creations and events)but only in France, Germany and Sweden.
I know that progress with promotion is very slowly but it's to much slow to bring game s popular before old players stop playing.
My Gamemodes:
MP4 - Countdown, Firefight
MP3 - Reduction, Overload, Flashpoint, Territory, SM Race, Escape
MP2 - Search & Destroy, Oscillation, Instagib

All the best,

I love TMUF, but I recommend to read the reasons in Soprahs post carefully. They are not to be dismissed out of hand.

Concerning the point TMUF must be imported to maniaplanet to prevent that the community is divided further:
Look at TMNF and TM2S: I have the impression, some of the stadium fans changed to TrackMania² Stadium, others stayed in TMNF (for different reasons). So, I can not agree, the transfer of TMUF to maniaplanet would be the cure against a splitted community.
(And as usual, eyebos thoughts are... well thought :1010)

Everything that is said about the eventual lack of popularity in the future is useless without taking into account our roadmap for the quality & the demos. Since they know little of both, there is little to say.
