As far as things seem, we're basically going from TM:United to TM:Divided... all too intentionally.
It's hard to say before we see. We don't know yet the behaviour of players : will they buy all the environments in order to play with all their teammates, play multi-environments leagues and support all Nadeo's work ? Will they buy only the environments they like the most ? Maybe hardcore/casual gamers will have very different behaviours regarding to this aspect ?

We may see a "central" community composed by those who buy all the environments and several "environement-sided" communities which should have links with the central one. It's probably not much more different from the current situation with Nations/United communities often facing each other. I think it will cause more problems to the teams who have multi-environments matches to manage (if all their members don't buy all the environments), and to the servers management, than to the community organization itself.

I gotta agree with nocturne here...unless they drop the price some, that is...I mean, sure, we don't know what the actual price per environment is going to be, -but-, if they're going to release these on a 'per enviro' rather than a 'per game' basis...the cost is gonna skyrocket pretty fast. I don't want to be crying wolf...but I know as a poor collegiate, I'd be one of the first to drop this off my list of purchases of things got too hairy... :-S TM is one of my favorite games, and I'll trumpet its praises as loud as anybody...I just want to get as much bang as possible for my buck.

I heard somewhere that the press forward tracks would not work anymore in TM2
I'm just wondering:
1) if this is true
2) why they wouldn't work

Does anyone have any info about that?

1) Haven't read anything about this
2) Can't think, why it shouldn't be possible to build pf maps

That was back in TMUF, where they were talking about how the PF-physics were changed from TMU to TMUF in order to stop boosters. They haven't killed 'em off completely, but they've done some good... :) Hopefully boosters will be less of a problem with the removal of a "free trackmania". Don't get me wrong, TMN was how I got into Trackmania to start with, but selling it for free opens the doors to both the highlifes, and the lowlifes of the nets...with predictable results.

If you want to play TM2, you are not forced at all to buy SM and QM too ! Do you mean that 3x20€ within 2 years (with perhaps possibility to buy the 3rd with Planets if you get enough) is way too much ?

About divisions... i just think that regular players who want to play multi-environments leagues will have all enviros (of the concerned game), that some/few specific enviro specialists will play mono-enviro leagues, and others who don't play leagues will have 1 or all as they want.

You mean actual PF maps ??? it won't be the same enviros than actuals TMUF ones, so none of existing maps will work on TM2 of course ;)

Hylis said somewhere that is will probably be possible (i don't remember the exact sentence). But nothing is fixed for now : there is no real concern about it before at least end of 2011 and probly later (when the 2nd/3rd enviro of a same game will come) ;)

By the way, i think you need to buy at least one environment to start earning planets, so it's quite out of scope until the second environment is delivered... Except if you can convert coppers to planets, but i never heared about that and i feel it's not to happen (except if Ubisoft wants to reward people who bought an opponent game ! )...
