I haven't been able to definitely reproduce this issue (yet), it seems pretty random:
When I have ManiaPlanet running, any other programs I have open don't seem to respond to any sort of mouse input, only keyboard. The cursor moves, but clicks only seem to respond in the application that last had focus. Keyboard input on the other hand seems to completely work - e.g. switching apps, tabbing to change the focus of a control within an app, etc.
Even after I quit MP the issue still persists. But since key input still works, I'm able to log out and thankfully this fixes it (windows key, arrow arrow arrow, etc).
This never existed in the older ManiaPlanet; maybe this got introduced due to some new input-handling code in ShootMania? I don't ever remember it when playing TM 2.
I'm running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro. I use a Microsoft mouse and have the Microsoft IntelliPoint driver installed.
Any ideas?
[b0, bug] Game can "kill" mouse input in other applications

I've had this same problem for many versions, even since early in the Alpha. I can tab out of the game. I can move the mouse around, but I can't click on anything. I can't even click on the game icon to bring it back up. I have to use ALT+TAB to tab back into the game. Inside the game, the mouse still works.aborttrap wrote:I haven't been able to definitely reproduce this issue (yet), it seems pretty random:

Restarting the game fixes it for a while. But inevitably it always comes back.
This only happened in ShootMania. I haven't had it happen while playing Canyon. Then again, I haven't played a whole lot of Canyon lately.
This isn't true for me. If I close the game, everything returns to normal in Windows.aborttrap wrote:Even after I quit MP the issue still persists. But since key input still works, I'm able to log out and thankfully this fixes it (windows key, arrow arrow arrow, etc).
Agreed. I never had this happen in MP1 at all.aborttrap wrote:This never existed in the older ManiaPlanet; maybe this got introduced due to some new input-handling code in ShootMania? I don't ever remember it when playing TM 2.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit here.aborttrap wrote:I'm running the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro.

Though I don't think it has anything to do with the mouse itself. The game is simply not giving mouse focus back to windows when you tab out.
Again, this doesn't happen every time I run ShootMania. But it has happened enough times that I can very safely call it a recurring issue.

For me this only occurs in Shootmania, NOT in Trackmania at all.
An alternate way to fix this is via CTRL+AlT+DELETE, then click around a bit and the mouse works again, finishing by hitting 'Cancel'.
I never tried if exiting the game worked, but ctrl+alt+delete did.

CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't help me. I tried that.
I can use the mouse while in the CTRL+ALT+DEL menu.
But once I go back to the Desktop, I still can't click on anything.

try right click anywhere outside of the game. left clicking should work again, or at least it does for me.
Re: [b0, bug] Game can "kill" mouse input in other applicati
I also noticed this problem: Minimizing the game makes the mouse not rsponding to clicks anymore. Afair the problem persists after exiting the game, however Ctrl+Alt+Del and pressing Esc in the menu (no need to do anythign with the mouse here) fixes the problem for me.

This issue still occurs in [B1.1]. IT happened to me several times over the weekend.
However, I was able to right click while at the CTRL+ALT+DEL menu and get mouse control back. Thanks for that tip!
But it's still an issue that ShootMania doesn't give up focus for the mouse very easily when you ALT+TAB out while playing in-game on a server.
