like Haagse said, I believe "community" is more important.
Of course the community is important, but the RoC servers are designed to be the place were the strong win over the weak or at least this is the theory behind it.
If you increase the amount of servers to let all players over 80k play (which are 1100 players, if they care about the ladder) this would be a whole mess because a lot of servers will be empty. If you reduce the amount of servers (as nadeo did), you create a "survival of the fittest" situation. The people that want to play on high ranked servers are forced to be good prepared (in this case it means they trained on the maps that the specific server holds, that they want to play on) or are naturally high skilled and can play maps on a good level without much train. If you do not fall into one category then you will find the RoC system unfair because you get kicked and need to take some time in the spectator queue until you can play again. But on the other hand, it is also true that good players feel disappointed by bad players on a server because this players reduce the amount of fun for them that comes out of tight races. And as I said in the beginning playing on the Race of Champions means you need to compete with good players for the title of the best. The more server, the more you weaken this ideology. This has nothing to do with being unfair towards the community in general, but one part of the community consists out of the so called "pro gamers". I think this is the term that laurens tries to define here and he means players that are willed to fight for points AND (this AND is the important factor) that have the skill to fight for points on a high level during this special three hours.
But how to solve this problem? My personal Idea would be to give a map pack out that should be used by all RoC servers over a distinct time course. This would create an equality between the different servers and together with an implementation of a master queue that contains all players that want to drive the RoC, the distribution of players over the different server would be fair to all players and not depending on the RoC you joined at the beginning.
Just my two cents, feel free to ignore it
