Regarding questions, any possibility that NADEO might release their plans of what is planned in the future, so we know what you're planning to work on? This way we wouldn't need to ask the same questions too many times ^^
I also think it would be nice if people could vote thing up on the priority list =)
It is really difficult to say what we plan. We have plans, but they change on a daily basis.
Somehow, I have 4 priorities, but depending on the time it takes, a priority 4 can be done one day before a priority 1.
Priority 1 at the moment are more like:
Storm gameplay
Matchmaking
Title cloud
Real time messaging
It is really difficult to balance with smaller feature or more niche ones.
Priority 4 are also often really good stuff, but too long to do for now.
Often when we don't do something right, like the wheel support, it is because of an endless stream of higher priority features. For this one, I will think on it once Storm is released probably. But we also make bad priorities sometimes, so you can see things that are done that are less important and took us more time than this feature or another else. Sometimes, there is also way to have the same feature in another way in the future, part of a bigger one, so we wait instead of making two code paths to reach it.
It is complicated to make priorities and it is quite my job since more than 10 years. It is hundreds of things that you have to sort depending on the difficulties, risk, things it can bring to players, short term, long term, attractiveness, length of play etc.
I recently interrogated 30 people on what they seemed the most influential to success from the thing we were preparing, and I would not have bet on their answer #1. We see things with different angle, and reading the forums is partly helping me to have some perception. One of the most common mistake made by some players is to think in only their single way of playing. People create, compete, play, share etc. And in each area, you have wide diversity of style or interest. It is like a big tree with leaves or roots, and the more Maniaplanet becomes wider, the more it is big. But we move and shall bring cool stuff with time.
