[Fixed][RC1][Canyon]Trees glow on higher shadows

Post by haenry »

This bug appears on very low shader settings in all lighting modes (sunrise, day, sunset, night) (others going to be tested :D)

The trees glow (pictures below)

I use a Radeon HD4850
(Tell me if you need more information! ;) )

EDIT2: Still occurs after todays update:

EDIT3:

I've noticed this for a few months, but I thought they intended it this way (don't ask me why I thought that).

But yeah, it does make sunset a bit useless when using trees. They just look bad because all the shadows are gone. I think I noticed it mostly when on very fast graphics preset, because I remember seeing it when working on District 25, as well as on my SpeedMapping track, both of which were built on very fast preset.

Edit: Okay, are you sure they're not fireflies? :roflol:

The bug seems to depend on the shader setting.
It only appears if shaders are set to very fast ;)

I think the way they light up is actually quite annoying. It really ruins the look of the trees. It gives them very flat lighting and takes away from how cool they can look with deep shadows. I hope they're able to get rid of the fireflies.

Indeed: there was a bug in the light capture shader of tree sprite, in very fast quality (then light was generated from trees at each bounce).
This bug will be fixed with next update including "ManiaPlanet.pak" file.
Thanks for the report.

Thanks! :thx:
Will maps need LMs to be recomputed for this fix to take effect?
