Creating a new Validation Code does not work

If I enter the key that i received when I purchased Trackmania through the official site to create a new validation code, I just get an error message: This account does not have rights to perform this action.

I bought the game while it was in beta from the Trackmania site. I'm just trying to use the validation code to buy some car models that I want to use.

I've found my validation code from an old email but this is still a problem.
