I remember it was said by someone earlier, but I don't remember where, so I would like to recall this again here. Unfortunately I don't know if it's possible for Nadeo.
That idea for Nadeo is about to extend the zones.
I'll give a good example. So here's this Poland. In TMNF/UF it is reached only to voivodeships, but there are also counties and something called gmina (gminas in plural).
Then if 2 people belong to the gmina, then they can see in which city they live, but person from the same county won't see the cities they live, however this doesn't have to be, it can be then (for Poland):
Poland=>xxx [Voivodeship]=>xxx [County]=>xxx [Gmina]
I would like to know what you think, cause imo it's not a bad idea. It's just a simple extending of the zones. I think it will be easier for people.

Re: Players & Zones
Yes, but, and this is just the first counter-argument I see upon considering this (I could be completely wrong
) Here in the US (and I'm sure everywhere), we have lots of small cities, townships, or whatever you would like to call them. Some even have less that 500 people living in them. I grew up in one such town. If there are some TM players from said town, would you still count that as a zone? If so--how would you prevent server overload or whatever from every small town on the map in the world being included?

Re: Players & Zones
Ok, maybe not THAT extended, but there are still some countries in the world, that could have some zones, which is unfair in relation to Germany, which has 3 zone, while Finland doesn't even have 1.

Re: Players & Zones
It depends on the number of players in a country. You need more zones for 1 million players as for 10000 players.
and France and Germany have the most players

Re: Players & Zones
In Trackmania Sunrise, the user was able to type the name of his city, and he could type mylittlevillagewithtwentyinhabitants if he wanted.
But it was somewhat ridiculous with all the players typing fake names or names with typing errors... And the system didn't enabled you to find your closest TM-neighbours.
Making 1,000,000 inhabitants sized subzones in all countries would make about 6,500 subzones in the whole world... (And it's the "resolution" we actually have for France). It doesn't seem astronomical to me. But including all the little towns of all countries is for sure irrealistic.
Besides, Do we need the most detailed zones where many persons live, or the most detailed zones where many TM-players live? Is the system intended to help the players to meet irl? If yes, isn't the most important criteria the geographical size of the zones rather than their population or their TM-population?
By the way (but it's kinda off-topic), lots of people used to use the flag of their country as an avatar. Why not have both a flag and an avatar? Or even a flag, a team logo and an avatar? *asking for cheese AND dessert*

Re: Players & Zones
I am against too much divided zones. Currently in Poland we have ManiaZones with the main forum and a lot of subforums - each assigned to the one of the voivodeship. To be honest I tell you almost all of the topics are posted in the main board. Voivodeships all well possible futher divisions have sense in the rankings (eg. you can compare yourself to others living in near), but the community is and will be focused around the county (I mean eg. polish) board. Just my two cents.
