Hylis wrote: fng_thatoneguy, I think we should wait to see how we can integrate it as best as possible. For the question of playing together, I think we should acknowledge that the capacities to mod on PC would require quite a specific work to be all available on a console like title. And insteand of spending time to work on double/triple interface/integration of such features, I expect some of the most engaged players to join the competitions or creative sections of Maniaplanet in the end. If the idea is that they would rather stick on console, I am ready to say that it's less likely that they would be able to involve as much anyway: PC offers a lot for communication, creation and sharing tool that are sometimes even made by players.

...

To sum up a little this post, I would try to make a simple and short explanation:
1. Console is a good support for both number of players & visibility. (which many players seems to ask for Trackmania as a whole)
2. E3 2013 came in with the right specs for the machines (memory especially)
3. Can we do it quickly enough and still make use of some of the work for Maniaplanet? Yes (example: Lagoon, the API and some other things)
4. Do we prevent PC owners only to buy it? No.
5. Can we prevent them to think that they need to take Trackmania Turbo to play first with Lagoon, and then have Lagoon to buy in Maniaplanet? Let's offer them Lagoon if they buy TMT, for exemple (it's an exemple, we don't know yet)
5. Do we handicap Maniaplanet to support updates while maintaining Turbo at each updates? Too risky.

It's was a long post, less structured than Hello Planet and not necessarly with a lot more info. But I think it will take time to understand everything, the reasons and the questions raised by the options we had, and do I wished to help do this potentially. And I know I am bad at explaining things, sorry ^^
I think I see what you are saying. Does this mean you will be advertising ManiaPlanet in the console versions of TM Turbo? I was hoping there would be that so console gamers might try their hand at TM on the PC. However, with all TM2 environments being built into Turbo, I fear they won't have a compelling reason to join the PC community. Do you all have ideas to handle that? (Not a bash, I'm genuinely curious.) I really hope the console TM, if done right, will help us build the PC community in the end.

Again, I do have my worries about community-split fallout at first, but I'm hoping for the best and really excited about the potential for the Lagoon environment. Can't wait to try it!

Hey, awesome news!

But I have one question:
Is it possible to get the game on PC and on PS4/Xbox one with only once paying for it?
Because playing on a TV with my PS4 is just a way better feeling than on my PC, but I just can't get really advanced with editors on a console, which is also really important for me.

I don't know if that got asked before, I don't have time at the moment to read through 16 pages ^^

Benziboy, yes, it may have been better, but even more complicated to release Lagoon on same day, for the reason you say (we do things for the PC users, but it looks like some would think it's better if we don't release it on PC)

Hawkger & Tcq: the whole point of playing custom titles should be for the desire to play with it. Today, there is a tremendous amount of gaming offering everywhere. I can not take any new game as a competitor to your titles. So, I think it's better if they get closer to Trackmania, with whatever game, than not. And if you say that there is only 1/22 people that downloaded, it's also probable that the ones that are likely to leave are less likely to be the ones that are on your title, since there care less about the creativeness in first place. But it's still the same thing that you need to know more about the game itself, Maniaplanet evolutions etc. In the end of the day, I think there will be more players on Trackmania thanks to Trackmania Turbo and so more people in the core community, and so more people on Trackmania RPG as well.

@Hylis, Cerovan and all Nadeo friends who have been "fighting the fires" today... mad love and respect to all of you. I know it isn't easy, especially when you have the bigger vision that we don't have the full understanding of, yet.

I do want to point out to all those that think everyone is bashing, that it isn't all bashing. It is very passionate players who have very legitimate concerns based on the information given so far about this epic announcement.

I would like to point out several that have a lot worried:
1. Some have said here that "I want Lagoon in ManiaPlanet, so why would I go buy it in Turbo only to buy it again in ManiaPlanet?" -- If we know we have a way of only having to buy it once, that crisis will be averted. However, the real lure for me would be cross-platform play, but since that won't exist, the only reason to buy it in the TM Turbo release, knowing it's coming later in ManiaPlanet is to have it on release day. Will many do that? Don't know, I probably will. But the concern is still legit.

2. Another concern is how to convince people who just paid for all 4 enviros on their console to go spend $50 to go purchase it again on ManiaPlanet -- Can you convince them that the awesome community and additional content is worth it? Perhaps... but being as the game is surrounding those 4 enviros that they already have... I think it will be a hard sell. (I still hope you can do it!)

3. Others asked "Why would we think PC TrackManiacs woudln't flock to TM Turbo to play all environments in one?!"
I answer you with another question:
How well did that work out for us when the TM2 title was finally released in ManiaPlanet?!
I had the same hopes for when that came out, but they didn't flock to the TM2 title to play the mutli-environment servers as I'd hoped (and still hope.) So I imagine the same might fall true with TM Turbo, simply because, again, why pay again for the enviros I already have.

That said...

4. I went to pre-order TM Turbo yesterday and it was listed at $19.99USD -- I decided to hold off because I want a lot of these concerns resolved first (like I said, I probably still will...)
However!!! I just went to the Uplay store to look at the price again, and it's now listed at $39.99!!! I get that price for people that don't already own the 3 TM2 environments (console users) -- but for PC owners that do?! That will be a MAJOR concern. This will discourage long-term TrackManiacs from getting TM Turbo and just holding out for the ManiaPlanet version. That will be really sad.

5. Forced Uplay - nuff said.

I still want to order this, but I was hoping for the $19.99 price tag like the other enviros, not having to repay for the others I already own.

Help!

Here are a few of my questions?

Will Maniaplanet 4 get a complete overhaul with a good menu like in tm turbo?
Will the existing title packs get a graphics overhaul to match tm turbo?
Are you going to find a way to make the title packs for trackmania work together as a whole tm game?
Will shootmania get a graphic update next year with less framerate drops and netcode issues?
And are you planning on shutting inactive title packs down for shootmania just to focus on developement for these titles: Siege, Royal, Elite and maybe add a kind of obstacle training introduction for new players to learn the game?

If all of the above can be answered wit a yes i will be happy.

TM turbo looks great but i want to feel those graphics greatness also in maniaplanet so bring it!
We spend lots of cash but after so many years of development we want to feel a bit more completeness to it.

Thatoneguy, there will be three steps
1. Everybody has all the info
2. The release and see what happens (TM2 players going to TMT?)
3. Maniaplanet 4 and beyond. (TMT players going to TM2?)

I think that most of the comments are about the 2. But without 1 & 3, it's a little link to players that are passionate and want to be in a scary movie ^_^ The price in Europe is €39.90 and that's all I know. If we give Lagoon, it would make somehow halfprice for people would would want both (maybe need to have other envs, I don't know) With pre-order reduction included, it may help as well.

Anyway, you have some good points about how strong or not could be a migration depending on many factors.

Lalacroft, Maniaplanet 4 will focus primarely on topic I said for Shootmania first but it's hard to know yet what we will be able to improve meanwhile. So, it's hard to answer yet.

Hello Hylis. Thanks for answering these questions. I have a request:

For the PC version of TM Turbo, can you guys please add better support for force feedback steering wheels, and include *TRUE* force feedback effects rather than simple rumble?

I still think its better not to speak as if a fact 100% of the community wants this - or finds it important.
Speaking in terms of 'the majority of the community' would be better said IMHO

edit: if i look at my team i -think- 3/9 would share lara's points. rest is allready happy as it is, and just sees whats coming.

Good Night all!
