Even most slippery surface should have some logic. I can play wooden platform, is crazy but has some sense. But if you car drive faster at loop that logical is that pushes harder on surface, centrifugal force is greater and that should gives result like better handling. But it's not working like that. And why car always turn right? Is some strange slippery surface that makes car turns right? Or maybe every Lagoon car has less air in right tires? Come on!
I really don't want to looking for explanation of every strange behaviour. Programmers aren't gods, they not do always everything by purpose. They made mistakes sometimes. And before you say that some programmer for sure "especially put artefacts on screen and black water every 5 frames" think that may be a bug, not deliberate action. This is first behaviour in TM driving I really think is bad and unable to proper handle or learn. It should be fixed. At least on loops.

Re: [BUG] Lagoon wood loops are totally random
If it stays like that, those wooden loops would never be in any tracks, they'll be forgotten for ever. Even if they're not random but very hard, nobody will want to play a map with these blocks. So yes it can stay like this, but you'll never see them.

Like the canyon small road cliff looping...
Such nice blocks and nobody uses them in cause of nearly undriveableness...

Not like this one. I can drive this canyon small road cliff loop (called "loop of death" by some people). I can drive it almost every time, on good maps even almost without small slide. This wooden lagoon looping is much, much harder and mostly beyond control.xrayjay wrote:Like the canyon small road cliff looping...

Yes I totally agree, but the fact is TMT environment are fully keyboard designed, or at least the gameplay is made in a way you can handle them properly with a Keyboard, unlike Island or Rally. It's not 100% true because Hylis designed Island to be the best keyboard-friendly environment at first, but the effect was the opposite, so when I say "designed", it's maybe not the best word.rat_in_car wrote:Ok, but handling Rally, Island or Snow has sense - you know where and why car slides (on Island or Rally) and you know how to prevent it (smooth turns, improving driver skills). Here you must fight with physics, finding workarounds, tricks etc. It's not like TM should be. TM is not about who discover best way to prevent bugs, it's who has better skills and can drive faster. Snow, for example, has wooden platforms with very high adhesion. It has sense, right? Wood on lagoon is more slippy than sand on beach! Is it heavily varnished wood?
I'm just say - some elements should behave different
For me there Hylis is contradicting himself, you all know he is playing Keyboard + he said many times in interview et wanted to made a game playable with Keyboard.
But Turbo is designed for CONSOLE, console have analogic handling only, ok there is a D-Pad but when you have a gamepad you usually don't use D-Pad for a driving game... So it's a strange analysis imo.
But anyway it's wanted that all Turbo environments have a physics which is near between each others. I'd have prefer to have at least one to be analogic-friendly to please everybody, but in other way the game is more consistent with all environments being keyboard-friendly
Valley is slow enough right ? Coast had a gameplay in a way you need to drive slower sometimes to be faster,TMarc wrote:yeah, speed is perhaps even too high now in Lagoon, can't really see the decorations![]()
Driving is more and more getting stressful. Perhaps we really need a new environment that is slower again, like Coast was
i'm getting to old for that

Environments you can lost grip:
- Rally, Coast, Island, Bay, Speed (2-wheels

Environments you can't lost grip (I didn't take Lagoon sand & valley dirt since you don't have any grip on this surface compared to Rally dirt for example):
- Stadium, Canyon, Valley, Lagoon, all from TM2/Turbo
Sometimes I'm wondering if it's because of Stadium success that we have 100% full-adherence environments since TMO/TMS...
Yes you are absolutely right, but don't you find that Lagoon would have been better with a Gameplay more closer to Snow ?acceleracer_01 wrote:You are contradicting yourself. Being fast in TM absolutely involves finding tricks and the best way to avoid bugs or other things. The most skilled driver in this game abuses tricks and bugs to his advantage.rat_in_car wrote:Here you must fight with physics, finding workarounds, tricks etc. It's not like TM should be. Ex: Full grip even in Wood instead of slide, and the possibility to lost grip if you are moving your stick too hard ? + a more smooth direction handling like Snow car ?
My opinion for this is totally subjective because I like Snow, I don't say I'd prefer a copy but something closer at some points, I think lagoon is a good environment but could have been the best environment with some changes. But I'd like your opinion too since you are a player who likes and play all environments like Marius.

Re: [BUG] Lagoon wood loops are totally random
I don't think Lagoon is for keyboard. It's fast turns are great for made gamepad maps. I've trying made few with smooth high speed curves and gamepad works great (at last!). It's like island without need to noslide (because car never slides itself).
And if I can't handle that slides on wooden loops with gamepad, then analog left/right will be even harder. I try to drive that loops with keyboard and it's even more horrible.

Re: [BUG] Lagoon wood loops are totally random
Yes sure, but Lagoon is still playable with keyboard even if you are better with a Gamepad, it's the case on all environments... I just say it would be even worse for keyboard players if you could lost the grip at those insane speed... But it would be better imo

Re: [BUG] Lagoon wood loops are totally random
I made few maps with this loop, it's really cool but on online server admin says that is too hard. People just don't want to learn how to drive this loop and, not like lagoon wooden loop, this one is possible to learn and car behave normal. You just need precission and good entry.disposableaccount wrote:i never played a custom map with that loop, i just realized that now :lol:xrayjay wrote:Like the canyon small road cliff looping...

More than that - is rarely that you see maps with narrow road that requires slide on servers. All I see is wide roads that requires slides or narrow ones that are for straight drive or curved that you can drive without slide. People like to increase their skills but also like simply maps that seems to be easy to drive. I really expect that after few years of release Canyon there will be popular servers with more complex maps. It never happens.
And BTW. I see that we talking with each other but not even single post from Nadeo here. I check "Questions & Answers Trackmania Turbo" thread and there is just few answers from Nadeo crew - mostly about not very important and easy questions. Strange policy - if you ask where you can click to create room or where you can buy game - you get answer. If you asking about bug - nothing. I think that moderator like TMarc should sends private messages to admins with links to important threads and asks directly "why nobody answer customers"?
