New monitor?

Post by Snakejuice »

I'm thinking about buying a new VA-panel monitor (Eizo EV2333WH) to replace my cheap TN-panel monitor (Philips Brilliance 230C) because I'm not happy with the blackness and contrast in dark/light areas and the viewing angle isn't very good either. What makes me hesitate is the 2ms Gray-to-gray response time on my current monitor vs 7ms on the VA-panel. How much if any do you think this will affect my performance in Trackmania or other fast games like Quake?

Eizo EV2333WH specs: http://www.eizo.se/default.aspx?page=11 ... view=specs
Philips Brilliance 230C specs: http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/2 ... ss_eng.pdf

I want to add that I will use this monitor for EVERYTHING as I don't use a "traditional" TV any more (can't justify the space requirements) so will be using it for regular desktop "work", movies and games.
Do you feel this is an upgrade worth making? I've never used anything other than TN-panels so I don't know how big the difference will be.

Also tell me if you think I'll get more for my money buying a different monitor but keep in mind that blackness and contrast is important factors for me. :)

I dont know anything about response times, but 7ms - realy, that is even less than hundreth of a second :D I've heard that you only need 10 fps to see movie "moving" insted of seperate frames. 7ms is uhm... Not long time?

I can't see any difference at all between my 8ms monitor and my friend's 2ms monitor. As janculits said, it's less than a hundreth of a second so I wouldn't worry about it at all if I were you. :)
