I would make a own Layer for the Documents\ManiaPlanet\Media\Painter\Vehicles\Canyoncar\Layers\ Path. I can do what i will, it does not work correct ingame. To test the problem i simple copied the original PreLight Layer to this User Path and if i select it ingame it does not work correct too, so its no problem with my files. Is this a known bug?
The effect is: for example, the copied PreLight overwrite the body with white, it looks like the texture is combined in the wrong way with the existing texture. Like when i select the wrong Blend Mode in Photoshop for a Layer.

Re: Problem with Painter Layers
the layer applies differently if it has an alpha channel.
RGB = multiply (Prelight)
RGBA = BlendMask (Dirt)
RGB = multiply (Prelight)
RGBA = BlendMask (Dirt)
Re: Problem with Painter Layers
Hm, the original Prelight TGA is RGBA, have its own Alpha Channel.
Edit: delete the Alpha Channel: the Layer do nothing in the Painter on the Car. RGB don't work.
Edit2: ok, after i test a little bit arround, it looks like, that the original PreLight Layer was multiply with the Car Skin. The RGB Channel to the RGB from the Skin, the Alpha Channel to the Alpha Channel from the Skin. But all Custom Layers works like Stickers: RGB the Colors who was added (not multiply, so white is white) to the RGB from the Skin and the Alpha Channel is for the RGB transparency.
Edit3: ok, a little Trick: Name your Folder for the Layer exactly "PreLight" and it works, but you can't make more than one. Test different Path Methods for more than one but that don't work. The old PreLight is still there.
It was nice when there could be a simple config file with only one option: how to use the texture: add or multiply.
The Reason for me was to separate the PreLight for Wheel and Body in two files, i thought that this was very useful.

Indeed I totally forgot that we changed the Layer technology. We needed to Lower Reflections into the cavities to avoid ugly wrong self reflexions, and the Alpha of the Prelight Layer now does that, all other layers are indeed in blending mode.
Sorry for the wrong informations and the time you lost searching.

Re: Problem with Painter Layers (half done)
Any chance for more than one custom PreLight Folder? Like "PreLight1", PreLight2" or something?
Like i said, the main thing for me to make a custom PreLight was that the existing PreLight is for Body and Wheel too and not separately, so when you only would PreLight the Wheel, because you want change the Wheel colors only, than you have a Problem. Either the body and the wheels are separated into two parts or (what would be the better solution) the Icons on the left side, where you can paint on all, the body or the wheel only, works for Layers too, what at the moment not work. The more I think about it the more I think this is only a Beta thing and on release its like the last option. ^^
