What is the best way to make damage geometry?
3DS and blender users, what tools/modifiers do you use to model damage?
Re: What is the best way to make damage geometry?
What I did (3ds max) - I just joined together pieces of "s" and "d" materials(for example join dHood and sHood in one object), so there are no holes when editing. Then I simply dragged some verts, also used soft selection tool, to save some work. And that is pretty much it - you have to be very careful not to make any holes.
And there is no magic wand, that makes the car damaged in a puff, but it does not take so much time anyways.
P.S. remember to detach the parts back again.
P.P.S. it is probably the same tip from me on Blender too
ALSO click on the picture in my signature, to see what results I got usisng this method
