How Can I Use The Path Tool Without It Going Crazy?

Hello, I've been getting mad at that stupid path tool trying to get those cool shapes like some skinners do.

The polygonal lasso tool isn't smooth, and the path tool wants to do it's own thing.

Is there a way i can go about using the path tool properly? Or is there something i don't know about it?

PS: Photoshop is what i use.
