Maybe so i guess, but i personally find Ventrilo to have better Audio codex and a friendlier user interface but then thats just my opinion and the fact that i havent used Teamspeak since.....hmmm i think the early days of Sunrise or maybe The Original C.O.D for PC!
I should maybe install it when SM is released and give it a whirl

Re: VOIP for SM?
It's not only a matter of popularity. The main purpose of the TeamSpeak plugin is to create dedicated channels with limited talk/join rights, and moving players to the right channel according to their team (or if they go spectating).
Therefore, it needs a way to control the VoIP server programmatically (with PHP in our case) and TeamSpeak has the best API to do it.
Mumble also seems to have a pretty good one but requires an external PHP extension.
And Ventrilo... doesn't have anything to do this...
So maybe there will be a Mumble plugin but unfortunately not a Ventrilo one.

Well that is interesting to know.... shame about Ventrilo though, maybe you could contact the developer and ask to make some modification to work the same as mumble and TeamSpeak
Also Will you be offering There VoIP services with every purchase? what i mean is Recommended A VoIP Download when a person buy a copy of SM or even integrate the VoiP into the SM installer ?

Re: VOIP for SM?
As we can't force server admins to use ManiaLive and so the TS plugin, it's a bit weird to recommend a VoIP software when you can't be sure you'll actually use it. And so it's worse if it's integrated in the installer.

Re: VOIP for SM?
Ventrilo is an old man, that has not been improved up to the level of competition,
TeamSpeak 3 is way better than Ventrilo, in terms of audio codec technology.
Mumble is even better, if we compare audio quality and the used resource amount. Albeit it uses codecs different from TeamSpeak 3, so this might be more sort of personal preference,
Also there are some alternatives, as Raidcall, for example, but I do not like the lack of dedicated server.
