Yeah, all kind of letter could be cool, also those one which don't work with TMNF/TMUF. I write my nick "Wormi" with Cyrillic alphabets and I like "backwards R" and other letters ^^

And what about fonts?
I mean TrackMania awlays uses only one font type each game. It would be great to have possibility to use eg. from three to five diffrent types :)
In-game it might be called with tag eg. $t0, $t1, $t2.... I would give also an option to fit the font to the style of the track.
Is it an good idea? :)

i like this as well to be honest. and i hope that the fonts will be vectorized this time. :D

or else, maybe the possibility to import vectors in the mediatracker, as raw points, so that it's not necessary to upload the file somewhere, but that the vector data could be read by trackmania.

sure this might be way too much, in that case a few different fonts would be nice. ;)

I would like it if there would be some kind of way layoutcode does not count for the nickname lenght.
ex. that $f60Weerwolf would count as 8 instead of 12 chars.
It would tremendously expand the options for nicknames. Combining layout for a clantag, nickname and a link
is always to long ....

Maybe an option to use two different nicks?
One normal written and one with special signs?
And give each player the possibility to select, if he want's to see the special char nick or the normal written?

hmm why not use the $ sign with a number so $1 becomes blue etc till 999.

That shortens the char use of 26.

because the encoding of color on 3 digits is like photoshop or other graphic software. It use Red, Green, Blue encoding. It's much more simple to mix color.

yeah that's right^^
so it would just be better, if the colour-codes would be ignored. then the name can't get to big, to see it on servers completely and you can make every letter coloured ;)

Perhaps when there is some sort of prompt to enter text, you could add in a little 'styles' button where when pressed a number of style buttons layed out similar like MS Office/etc would pop up. And perhaps there could be a button to completely reset all styles applied to the text?
IMO, that would make text-changing a whole lot easier and user-friendly. :)

In regards to disallowing cyrllic and other alphabets... that's a bad idea. TM is played in countries where that is the character set... and those players use those characters as their normal names. It's up to each player to make his name legible to others. If someone from Russia joins the server you're on, the name may look funny to you, but perfectly normal to them. Same goes for Chinese and Japanese players, etc...

Of course some people abuse these other character sets (like myself ) and use the non-latin characters cause they look close enough to still be read as if they were latin but are thicker letters or more stylized. But there's nothing you can do to stop that unless you restricted the character set people could use depending on their region in the game.
