Check your settings dude, with mine (ATI 5770, AMD phenom x2, 4gb) i have around 100 on all maps (Elite Only).
The problem is "
Optimization" not that the game is completly fucked up.
If you have a nice computer (and fingers to configure the settings well) it'll be fine, not that great in ffa with 40ppl but at least really playable.

i really let my fingers lose when i was trying to make the game smoother for fps but at 800x600 res and lowest settings possible not even 40 fps i even try ed testing with 60 hz and 120 hz no change

whats so ever still stuck with the 30 fps so this really cant be good since the game is already for pre-order and its its not optimization i cant support a game that doesn't respond to the gamer/s needs to make it smooth and clean gameplay
edit: and all my drivers are up to date so it it cant be a drivers problem and i even check to overclock just to see any resaults and you guessed it no change its like the game dos not like my sytem

Dowload CPU-Z and check what your CPU frequency is while playing. Might be SM isnt stressing it enough so your CPU runs at idle clocks. If it does, go into bios and disable C-state.

we're lamenting this in alpha forums already. it's the no1 obstacle for SM.

Yes strange thing with the laggs. I am running a 3 dedicated server for sm with a 150/10mps connection. When one server is full of people (more than 20), the players complain about massive laggs, although their pings are resonable low about 30 to max 50ms. Had yesterday a peak of players on the server about 30, the dedicated server process used only around 10% of cpu time on a virtual ubuntu machine. All players got laggs. The only Solution for me now is to limit the players number to aprox. 16, that should be good.
I am not alone with this problem, all other servers got the same problem.

It seems to me people here are talking about two different things.
Some are talking about network lag.
Others are talking about fps (the OP was talking mostly about fps I think).
Aren't they two different things? Or are they more interconnected than I realize?
I guess regardless of if they're connected or not, there is a desire for optimization to be done in both areas.

Only read the TLDR on the first post, but I agree wholeheartedly! The game also really needs to get it's lag sorted out. Not one server I have seen has had it's advertised ping (on the server screen) under 700, even the ones in australia. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I haven't been able to play a single online game yet - it is almost impossible to move or shoot. I can spend up to 15 seconds just stuck in the spawn mashing keys to try and get the character to start moving or stop teleporting around.
I used the game's profiler (minus key) and the actual ping doesn't match up with the advertised ping, ranging from 400 to 3000 (
three thousand) ms, which is just what. It's completely ridiculous that I can't even play at all (let alone properly) on servers in my own country.
This thread has a really good breakdown of the problem, particularly the part where SM is regularly maxing out the data caps at 15 kbs and 20 kbs when other shooters hardly exceed 5kbs.
Basically, if the problem isn't fixed, the game cannot be played. The wonderful balancing, mediatracker, level editor, gameplay, all completely wasted. We might as well delete it off our computers and play something else.
It's that simple.

The ping you see when you click on a server lies. For French servers the "advertised" ping is usually around 120 for me while it's 50-60 in-game. Click + next to 0 (not numpad) to see your ping.
