You have a very strange attitude. I did not threaten you, I have warned you to stop this for a good reason, and I warned the others not to delete anything - or to do it carefully.

My solution works.... This isn't the first time I have solved a game problem... I did this for Aion when people were crashing and could not get the game to run... I had over 3000 posts just in the technical support forum assisting people with their problems. I coordinated with ATI to release Crossfire drivers compatible to Aion. Config files are only txt documents that the game reads from. When they are deleted they will be sent to the recycle bin where they can be restored from there.

When I get home I will re edit the OP.

You can delete the Config folder in Documents/ManiaPlanet, it's just you need to add your profile and make your settings.

We did this last night - and it worked like a charm - why? I have no idea. But it worked.

Exactly this is the problem. It might not work for all, and then other undesired issues might appear, which would have other issue threads in consequence.
If others want to try it, they can, but at their own risk. And this warning was missing. I only added it, ok?

So you please don't get me wrong here, I really appreciate that you found this out, but you first should have posted it in the appropriate part of forum, ShootMania beta reports, so it can be analysed further by the creators of this game.

Sorry 1: But this is not Aion here, what works fine there must not necessarily work here.
Sorry 2: And some people delete files bypassing the waste bin... where is the restore possibilty then?

I'm only trying to help as you are doing, perhaps in a different way.
But as experienced user you should also consider less experienced people and all the errors they might do, this is all behind the intention of my recent warning

simple way to keep your profiles save: if you are really on need to get new configs, and dont want to delete your old configs for any reason:

instead of deleting -> send to zip file, rename to *.old or copy elswhere

if your changes are not to your satisfaction, copy your old configs back .
simple.

When you're desperate I don't think anything else matters. I had already re-installed the game it didn't fix it. I would gladly deleted anything permanently because i know i can just run the installer again and replace the file. Should be a warning, but its not like it will mess up your PC. Your game is ready broken, this can't break it anymore.

in your case , yes, but many others will happily delete their configs even without having problems.
thats wh i try to show that not in every case a deletion of your configs might be a good idea;).

for such cases, a backup is a good idea.
of course , if allready almost everything is messed up, a deletion of your old profile could be a way to solve problems,
but i think that was not the topic here ("[Shootmania] How to fix DeltaShot LagSpike") << seems not for me to sound like i messed up my configs completly.

and sorry but thats a must add:
for a Tech guru its no good idea to advise others a deletion of config files, even when they are just plain txt files, which is not completly true btw. doing a backup before that is always a good idea before removing /changing anything in the configs by hand.

most of th tips of the topic creator are very good, no word, but deletion of configs isnt any good, when they are not backed up before.
