The ladders will be there for each title and title pack, while the only common thing will be the planets (and the economical points).

For all the "old" TMUF players it is somehow a step back.
But for the new, they can get only the environments they like to have.

About the free stuff, we'll have to wait what happens...

All maniaplanet titles are separated and works as stand alone, but you only start maniaplanet2 and you can play any of the titels that you have, but they are all in one program "maniaplanet2" in stations as it calls.

When I asked about the ability to play multiple environments on the same server, Hylis did not completely dismiss it. I know the system isn't currently designed that way, but we may see the ability to do it sometime in the future. A big part of the draw for United was being able to play multiple environments on the same server. It added much needed diversity to the driving experience.

The future is bright. Anything is possibly.

The problem with the new titles concept is the following:
What to do if a server proposes maps for titles you don't have installed?
Of course Nadeo will make everything to sell all the titles, but the players will not buy every title due to different issues and needs.
Would you like to wait until the "bad" maps pass to the next map where you have the title installed? I don't think so, you would rather quit and look for a different server, right?
With the growing amount of data to load, already the loading maps is a lot, but switching titles could be bad then, unless you really have a lot of memory and a fast machine.

Just got a reply on the French thread:

Il y aura peut-être des title packs multi-enviros pour pallier à ce problème mais rien n'est décidé pour le moment.

Perhaps there might be title packs that include multiple environements, but nothing has been decided yet on this.

I propose that it could work like United where you (as server host) can select which environment(s) your server uses. You can set your server to be a Coast only server and only Coast maps will show up there. Also, in the server list, only the Coast icon will appear next to it.

So server listings could be filtered based on which titles you not only have bought, but which ones you have installed. If you have all the necessary titles installed to play on a given server, then that server could appear in the list for you.

Distributing ladder points should be as easy as knowing which environment was just played and sending the ladder points to that specific ladder.

Servers that are multi-title based could show up in both titles for those players who own both titles (or in the multiplayer server browser in maniahome).

Yeah, something like this would be acceptable.
You can be sure there will be a button for missing titles "You do not have the title used, but you can buy it here..."
