So, I would even also answer "with the box" myself if I was only looking to that perspective.

But there are many reasons that makes the digital download better, even for the players. The logic of maniaplanet, with many titles, is not really compatible with the shelves space strategy of the current distribution. They have made a lot of space for console products and now, they have more difficulties to keep titles on the long run, like they do for mangas, movies and music for some.

Difficulties like that can create difficulties for us and difficulties for maniaplanet. Since first TrackMania, I wished I can make all of this more agile. Waiting to make three environments to make a product that make more money by space on the shelves is not the right strategy in my oppinion for maniaplanet.

The question would rather be: would you prefer to see a stronger maniaplanet thanks to digital distribution?

I have decided to make the best choices for the games and I believe for the gamers. I know that box are cool and I bought many in my life. At the moment, there is not a good solution for boxed products like maniaplanet, so I have to make it digital. Paiement methods are still being worked out, but we are also taking good care that players will have access to it from many ways. It depends of countries and there are many evolution in that way. Just look at paysafecard if you want to see one, but there are many other ways.

Anyway, this is still in work and I only wish players believe that we are making this in order to make a stronger maniaplanet and a more dynamic way to reach players. Even for the delay, you can imagine that worldwide boxed distribution is not something that can be done in a day. More than a month to start, once you have finished the beta, it is also strange when you have one title around every 4 to 5 months.

As for printed documentation, I would not print a million of books with a tutorial for 5% of them to read it. We are also in a world where we need to take care of our environment. In fact, I would recommand to make a book, like maniaplanet for dummies ^_^ and so people can order what they really need.

I hope players will understand, even if I understand box is funnier. The good point is that when you will invite your friend on a sunday night, he will not tell you that he will wait to come because he also want the box, he will download and play it right now with you ;)
For me it's logical that there will be only a download version, because it only costs 20 euros. That's not enough to sell it on shops...

There could be a collectors edition every year, with sm,qm,tm2 together for 60 euros, which is in the shops, but that's just a speculation

And the game ( it only has 1 environment) will probably have 2-3 gb. ;)

yep, please ask if there will be a boxed version after some time. (perhaps a Maniaplanet-box with all games or a Trackmania²-box with all tm2 envis)

A second very important question for myself is: Will Trackmania RPG be possible in Trackmania² Canyon? Example in Stadium: There are soo many special Blocks where u can have fun: Borders, Pipes, CircuitBase-Block, Walls, and so on. But in all other United Envis arent many thing what we could do. So i would like to know if there are possibilities in TM² to create RPG Maps.

in my big frustration that Tm2 has still no offical release date or beta date or any preorder version, I now preordered Drivers San Francisco Collectors Edition (coming 1st September).
I hope this will allay my hunger for 2-3 weeks until tm2 is released.( cause in September cloed/open beta is over)

I mean I have holidays from 18.7 to 16.9 , I'd have time to play Tm2 and reporting bugs 24/7 ...

I'm so excited 8-)

Give them a break. If an estimated release of just September is all we get at the moment, then that should suffice. The beta begins soon and once all stages are complete, they can start working out official release dates. For all we know, maybe something major will happen during the beta and as a result of that, the game is pushed back. I'd rather Nadeo give us an estimation than an official date; some companies fall into that trap and a lot of people become disappointed because the game wasn't ready by the set date.

Perhaps POB can look into it further. :)

Hi everyone :)

I put the questions to MrBob this morning who did his best to answer them, but understandably a lot is still work in progress so a lot of what I asked cannot yet be discussed. Sorry if you were expecting more but hang tight and let Nadeo announce anything new at a suitable time in the future. This is what I do have for now:

Maniascript
There isn't really an example that can be given on what Maniascript can do at this time. MrBob said Maniascript is "meant to be a collaborative tool", so I imagine it will grow over time as there is no: "Day 1 and that's it". I think the main point is that on 'day 1' people will probably just want to race and get used to the new environment and what it can offer, and then after that we can really start to see what Maniascript can do. MrBob did say this:
We will try to get something before the game's release, but it will depend on the time we can allocate to this, and the priority.
RPG maps
This from MrBob:
RPGs maps should definitely be possible, and even more interesting, thanks to the maniascript :D Then, as this is community driven, I can't tell if people will use it or not, and if RPGs' will be good or not :)
There is this nice quote from MrBob to finish (MrBob if you're reading this hope you don't mind me putting this in!)
(...)stay tuned on the forum to hear from Hylis for Beta start and evolution. For any other announcement, I would simply say: Be patient, it's coming soon, and we are super excited to finally be able to play online with everyone :)
Hope this helps you guys a little. At the end of the day when it comes to release day you won't be disappointed and after that the game should further evolve towards perfection :D
