Well problems with this is that TheCastle is a map that hardly gets any playtime these days. Due to it's layout it tends to be very defensive boring gameplay.
Also the lack of fences is a problem. Fences would be a laserdefenders strongest position due to it canceling out the wh handicap for the attacker.
It's just not a good map choice for a test.

Well if by "balance" you mean change the way the gameplay is in a fundemental way, then yes. However if you want entertaining, highskilled, fastpased, streamfriendly gameplay made for esport. Gameplay where attacker moves around trying to get defenders to rotate, make mistakes and pick them off before it all comes to a climax in the end of the turn. Then no. Any laser on defence will make that pretty much impossible. Unless you rebalance everything including armourpoints I can't see how it could work.
Unless the goal is to change the gameplay completly that is. But then its not really Elite and thats why so many have a problem with the update I think.

So we got some people together and was doing a warmup game on theCastle to get a feel for it. I figured we do one game then talk over and try to play more serious the next game. There where no 2nd game on castle. All was bored and just wanted it to be over.
Sadzealot should have sent you replays from daybreak where you can clearly see how laser on defence combined with fences is a big nono. Due to some miscommunication there are videocapture of castle but no replays. Sad part its on very narrow bandwidth and the one who captured it can't be bothered tbh. For him it's so obvious what's wrong.

And as an addition about playing only laserdefence on a map without fences. It's just not representativ of what the gameplay would be. In reality a team would have depending on map at least one without laser that can spot and flush the attacker out into the laserplayers field of view. Playing only lasers is not optimal if there are no fences since they cant ever challenge an attackers angle forcing some odd gameplay.

Why do you ALWAYS feel the need to change things? Seriously, in my opinion, Elite was perfect as it was. I quit the game because I didn't like what the B2 was about, and came back because I liked the changes you made. But now THIS? This is absolutely ridiculous. I don't see how pro teams will go ahead with this, there's no way they will.
Remove the laser/nucleus for defenders, we're not in Siege mode, don't mix everything up PLEASE.
What's happening is the following: it's like you're on the railpad and just wait the attacker to come in your crosshair, but in fact, you rushed and you just wait til the attacker comes out of the spawn, more or less. Do you want the attacker to stay hidden the whole round and wait until the time runs out (even though he knows where his ennemies are) ? Way to go if you want to slow the game and have everyone wait around corners, strafing and firing and so forth.

I agree with the change and hope to see it at IPL 6. The current (b2) gameplay is extremely boring. Every competitive team uses a similar, if not the same, defensive style. As it currently stands, every defensive position on just about every map revolves around fence play. You see the same thing done on every map, every round. The introduction of laser/nuke on defense allows for a multitude of defensive strategies, and similarly attacking rounds will be different as well, since you cant just go the same route and try to 1v1 whoever is behind whatever fence.

Is it so hard to admit u guys made a mistake and just revert teh changes to original elite, and do the "new" elite in a new gamemode?

We are in BETA and they are testing stuff to improve the game. Sometime it can be good, sometime it can be bad but the maingoal is to test stuff!
Do some test+feedack posts instead of whine about nothing.

I still don't have tests
The ones from sadzealot are the most advanced, but are mainly playing with fences. What about removing them on the maps if they cause troubles and see what happens? Like I said, I will take constructive feedback from players who really test it, thanks.

I am used to it, but strangely, it looks like some people are saying the last version was really good

so, you are probably ridiculous as well, since the tons of "ridiculous" that have been said about us.
I have ask for TheCastle and CrossRoads tests, and I see more energy from you to spam the forum than to bring positive tests. The majority of your posts on the forum are about being negative, while we are in beta, for tests.
Tests, tests, try to improve, test, test and once I see how good where the tests, the energy put to find improvements more than insults, then it will be easier to take the right decision for Elite. Preventing of doing anything in beta would be just ridiculous.
